Great things start every summer!

PRESS RELEASE: MANILA, PHILIPPINES, March 6, 2013 – MILO once again makes summer the perfect time for active play with the MILO Summer Sports Clinics, the most widely participated sports clinic program in the country. With its commitment to discovering and developing tomorrow’s champion athletes, MILO encourages school children ages 7 to 16 to make the most of their summer vacation by learning sports and taking on new challenges. Last year, close to 15,000 children participated in the clinics in over 800 venues nationwide.

From April to May, MILO will open its own centralized sports clinics in 50 cities across the country in addition to existing MILO sponsored sports clinics to give children more opportunities to experience top-level training by MILO coaches and experts for a lineup of 13 sports programs, including badminton, basketball, bowling, gymnastics, volleyball, karatedo, ice skating, tennis, taekwondo, table tennis, chess, football, and swimming.

MILO ensures that the participants of the MILO Summer Sports Clinics not only get the training they need to become world-class athletes, but also the necessary values they need to succeed in life, such as determination, discipline, commitment and teamwork.

“MILO has been actively supporting various sports clinics for 30 years. This summer, MILO is bringing fun to learning with the Summer Sports Clinics,” said Andrew Neri, MILO Sports Executive. “Our focus is on training children to reach their full potential, not just physically, but socially, mentally and emotionally as well. The clinics will encourage them to form new friendships, discover their strengths and overcome different challenges.”

MILO has a history of producing winners on and off the court through its trusted sports programs. Among the MILO sponsored sports clinics’ esteemed alumni are BEST Center graduate and PBA player Chris Tiu, Philippine Taekwondo Association’s top athlete and Southeast Asian Games medalist Japoy Lizardo, and BEST Center Volleyball Clinic graduate and WNCAA gold medalist MVP Princess Gaiser.

Finding a worthwhile summertime activity for children is a challenge in itself for most Filipino parents. While kids spend more time in front of the computer than outside to play, they get less exposure to the wholesome cognitive and physical benefits linked with outdoor activities. With summer just around the corner, now is a great time to engage kids in active play like sports activities, which develop life-long skills and abilities when provided with the right training, equipment and facilities. Sports also sharpen the mind and build character through values like fair play, self-control and honesty.
