Milani Moisture Lock Oil Infused Lip Treatment in Repairing Primrose

By Kwilliford @ExquisiteEczema
Out of all the new drugstore releases, I was probably the most excited about these new lip oils. I have dry lips, so I always get excited about new releases that promise hydration. There are many different variations that target different issues. For example, I picked out the Repairing Primrose which is infused with rose hip oil. This one is supposed to help with lip lines. Each one has tsubaki oil, jojoba oil, and avocado oil.  These treatments are also vegan according to the Milani website.

As exciting and promising as the Moisture Lock Treatments sound, I was underwhelmed by Repairing Primrose. I do have some slight lip lines, and I haven't noticed any changes. Of course I didn't really expect anything dramatic. I was more interested in they hydrating properties because this cold snap has damaged my lips.
To make things worse, this lip oil didn't seem to add any extra hydration to my lips. In fact, it may have made things a little worse.  This product feels like a light weight gel on the lips and during the wear time, it felt really nice. It was lightweight, non-sticky, and it feels lightly hydrating. But after it wears off, my lips felt parched again. We are talking Sahara level here, people. I can appreciate a product that provides immediate relief, but I need long lasting benefits. In that regard, this product didn't make the cut.
I am also not a fan of the applicator. It is massive and it was a bit awkward to use at first. It does apply the product well, but any type of residue (dry skin, left over lipstick, etc.) on your lips will stick to it. Which means if you don't clean off the applicator, you will get all kinds of crap in the tube. I don't want to have to think about thoroughly cleaning it all the time, so that was a downside.

This stuff goes quickly. I haven't even had mine for a month and I am already over half way through the tube. Of course that could be a result of having to constantly apply it since the hydrating effects don't last long.
The packaging is just your clear, plastic tube with a gold lid. The label wears off insanely quickly, which is a minor issue, but it still bugs me for some reason. I'm weird like that.
It is also important to note that this product is clear and it will not add any color to your lips whatsoever.
Even though I wasn't a fan of the Repairing Primrose Lip Treatment, I may get the one with coconut oil since it is specifically formulated for providing moisture. And I apparently like it enough to always have on hand. It is easily to slap on if you have nothing else and need instant relief.
They are around $8 and should be popping up anywhere Milani is sold.
Have you tried the new Milani Moisture Lock Oil Infused Lip Treatment? I would love to hear your thoughts!
