Menopause Can Be Delayed By Women Having More Intercourse, Oral Sex, Masturbation.
According to a U.S. study, women who have sex at least once a month have a lower risk of entering menopause early. The study focused on almost 3,000 American women. It showed that those who had weekly sexual activity (oral sex, masturbation, or intercourse) were 28% less likely to experience menopause early at any given age compared to women who have little to no sex at all.
According to Megan Arnot, a Ph.D. Candidate at University College London (UCL) who co-led the research, the study seemingly backs the notion that the body reduces reproductive conflict and allows older women to increase their fitness by taking care of their grandchildren. This is why if you are more sexually active, your body's energy is more honed in on the ovulation process, thus delaying your menopause.
What Is The Usual Menopause Age?Menopause can happen to a woman in her 40s or 50s, though the average age for menopause in the United States is 51. Menopause occurs when you've gone a year without your menstruation and is a sign that you will no longer be able to get pregnant. Before you reach this, though, you will go through a transitional phase called "perimenopause" for about four years in your 40s before your period comes to a complete stop.
You may experience irregular periods and various other symptoms during perimenopause, including hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, sleep problems, weight gain, thinning hair, and mood swings. Although symptoms vary from woman to woman, you may also experience dry skin and notice your breasts start sagging.
Are There Other Ways To Delay Menopause?Apart from being sexually active, other lifestyle changes may play a role in delaying your menopause. One thing to consider is quitting smoking - studies have shown that smoking can cause start menopause earlier by two years versus women who don't smoke. There has also been researched on how your diet can affect your menopause age, too.
In 2017 and 2018, studies showed that eating a lot of refined pasta and rice could kick start early menopause. On the other hand, a diet with high vitamin D levels, calcium, oily fish, legumes, zinc, and vitamin B-6 may delay natural menopause. While you can delay menopause, it is inevitable as it is a natural part of aging.
