Each entry on the list includes an introduction to the individual and a brief description of why they belong the list. Some of the entries include a photo of the outdoor athlete in action with some stunning shots of climbers, explorers, and others in their element. In some cases, the description includes links to organizations and projects that these men and women are working on.
So who made the cut on MJ's latest list? Of course, I won't spoil the fun of finding out for yourself, but I will say that you're likely to recognize many of the names found there. That group includes the likes of ski mountaineer Kit Deslauriers, polar explorer Vincent Colliard, and mountaineer Melissa Arnot. Oh, and you'll certainly recognize the guy at the top of the list, as he's fairly famous too.
As usual with a list like this one there are some fairly prominent names that didn't make the cut. When you only have 18 slots to narrow things down, it is hard to get everyone who deserves a mention into the the article. There are a few curious omissions and I have to wonder why photographer Chris Burkard is there. Don't get me wrong, I admire Burkard a lot and he has done some really beautiful and interesting projects, but when it comes to adventurous photographers, it really is hard to top Jimmy Chin.
