Lanz is ready for night ride bike to work job and relieving Terrenz for my bike touring duty.
For all those, who don’t know I had a 2nd bike just like other bike enthusiasts out there and I would like to introduce to you Lanz my Utility Bike turned City Bike. Utility Bikes are designed for commuting, shopping and running errands. They employ middle or heavy weight frames and tires and they often have internal hub gearing. To keep the rider clean, they often have full front and rear fenders and chain guards. To make the bike more useful as a commuter vehicle, they are often equipped with a basket. But wait there’s more, Lanz is the beneficiary of Terrenz’s (my primary bike) old parts like shifter, RD, FD and the latest one is the Shimano Tiagra 52T crank that I just installed 4 days ago.
So far this utility bike of mine is all upgraded from its original stocks to Shimano’s entry level to a 6 speed Shimano Tourney drive train and the additional of Shimano Tiagra crank that has 52T/39T makes it a one hell of a monster utility bike and I am loving it.
Lanz now enjoys the new setup for longer ride.

Having said that, Lanz final test begun the past 4 days ago and he passed my expectations and I was so impressed with its performance really, no pun intended because I was able to maintained a good cadence and a stayed at 30 KPH by staying at 39T and 13T gear shift thanks to my extra Cateye accessories and sensor I was able to measure it. Not to mention that there is no chain drop at all and I am so amused on the sound it makes on the derailleurs its like music to my ears really. I wish I could record it.
I am anticipating that I will meet difficulty on up hills but my new set up prove me wrong one more time because it is easier to climb up and down even if I stayed at 52T ring and play on the cogs. Not to mention I don’t have to exert more effort pedaling up it you don’t believe it I am more than willing that you take my bike for a climb in Antipolo City or Timberland’s The Wall.
