Mantra Vega: Island

Posted on the 01 July 2015 by Hctf @hctf

Mantra Vega is a collaborative effort by veterans of the melodic prog rock scene. The core is made up by Heather Findlay and Dave Kerzner. Their debut single Island serves as a taste for their forthcoming debut album The Illusion’s Reckoning.

It is tempting to write them off as neo-hippie fodder, but the musical backing provided by an ace trio of musicians pulls the song safely ashore. The other tracks are more classic prog. Mountain Spring features a Tony Band-inspired keyboard sound and Every Corner is rather New Age-y, telling a story about the concepts of time and infinity on top of a tinkling backdrop.

Mantra Vega are still searching or their own sound, but with the amount of talent that got together for this project all they need is someone telling them to take more risks.

Mantra Vega:
Heather Findlay (formerly of Mostly Autumn): vocals, guitar
Dave Kerzner (Sound of Contact): vocals, Keys
Chris Johnson (Halo Blind): guitar, keys
Stu Fletcher (We Could Be Astronauts): bass
