Mail Call Monday - Belle Tackles Oily Skin

By Beauteandtheblog

Hello all! I'm starting a new segment on my blog called "Mail Call Monday." Gotta love alliteration.
Anywhoo, every monday, I will be taking some of the questions I get from you guys via email and answering them right here!
If you want a question answered/featured here, email me at bellesbeautemail@gmail.com! I respond to all emails nonetheless.
So here we go!

Today's question is from Deb:Hey Belle, I have extremely oily skin. Literally, two minutes after washing my face, its is a shiny mess again. Do you have any tips for controlling the oil? Thanks!
Deb, I feel ya girl. My skin is really similar in that it oils up majorly throughout the day. Here are some tips for you and all the other girls out there that have similar troubles:
1. Make sure your cleanser is not too harsh - I used to use a cleanser that dried out my skin, but I thought it would be okay just as long as I moisturized really quick after I cleansed. Your body doesn't think the same way though--when your skin gets dry, it overcompensates by producing even more oil. A gel based cleanser would be your best bet; my current holy grail is Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser for normal to oily skin. I've been using it for years and its been great.2. Keep your makeup oil-free - You don't want to add even more oil to an already slick face, so keep your makeup, makeup removers, and cleansers oil free.3. Blotting papers are your best friend - Always keep a stack of these with you to clean up and touch up. E.L.F has super cheap $1 ones and they work great!4. Set your foundation with a powder - A powder will help soak up the oils and keep the slick at bay.5. Drink Water - I know, I know, this ones a hard one to hear because I know its a struggle even for me to get enough water throughout the day. But I promise you, you will definitely notice a difference in your skin if you drink at least 6-8 glasses. Your skin will be much more hydrated, so your body will naturally produce less oil to compensate.
Thanks for your question, and hope that helps!
