Long Live the Classics!
One thing I’ve realized as I’ve gotten older, is just how much I appreciate the classics.
Classic cars, classic movies, classic rock, heck even when I was younger I was excited when Classic Coke came back. And yes. I’ll take Waylon and Willie ANY day over this newfangled country rap stuff they call country music now.
I guess you could say at 54 years young, I’m kind of a classic myself.
But that’s ok. Because the definition of CLASSIC is:
An outstanding example of a particular style; something of lasting worth or with a timeless quality;
If I’m a classic, then I’m dang proud to be one!
And here’s something else I would LOVE to see make a comeback…..
Classic Food
Yes……FOOD.
You know……like we USED to eat.
- Not that new stuff that’s in packages, pouches, or boxes and fills up 99% of our store shelves.
- Or has a shelf life of 50 years
- Or is ready to heat ‘n eat in 2 minutes….
- Or has been enriched, or improved
- Or comes in a paper sack from a drive-thru
I mean REAL FOOD
Potatoes, carrots, onions, beans, corn on the cob, peas, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, turnips, broccoli, cauliflower, apples, bananas, oranges, pineapples, oranges, strawberries, blueberries, walnuts, cashews, sunflower seeds….. you get the idea.
REAL FOOD THAT GROWS IN THE GROUND , or on a vine, bush, or tree.
THAT is food.
Everything else is just a chemically processed imitation.
You may say then that meat, eggs, and dairy would be included in that definition too….but think about it.
Meat, dairy, and eggs are just as processed today in their factory farms as the so called food-like substances in our grocery stores.
- They’re injected with growth hormones and stimulants to make them grow big, incredibly fast
- Chicken and pork pieces are then injected with salt water to make them weigh even more on the scale
- And tons of antibiotics are used just to keep them alive enough to butcher……
Did you know 80% of ALL our antibiotics used in the US today is given to farm animals? 80%!
I think it was in the new documentary “Eating You Alive” where I heard Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn say that Americans today have forgotten how to eat.
He’s right…..we don’t know what real food is anymore.
We eat chemically enhanced, nutrient poor, processed food-like substances – solely to fill our hungry bellys, without the least bit of interest in how it’s made or what’s in it. As long as it fills our tummy….we’re good to go.
Very few vitamins, very few nutrients, practically zero fiber, but tons of salt, fat, and sugar to make them taste good.
That’s our FOOD today, and it really is sad. And now look at our disease rates….heart disease, stoke, cancer, diabetes.
Is it any wonder?

So I’d LOVE to see a comeback in what I’m calling CLASSIC FOOD.
If everyone would start eating just a few more servings of fruits and vegetables everyday, and completely lay off all the processed crap foods…..we’d see a HUGE turnaround in our heath.
And that’s exactly what I’ve been telling all my family and friends I’ve seen here in Indiana. And it’s not like they (or you) haven’t heard it a million times before.
The secret to good health is very, very simple….
EAT RIGHT and EXERCISE.
And by eating right, I mean the classics.
Fruits, Vegetables, Whole Grains, Beans, Legumes, Nuts, & Seeds…..
Lay off all the imitation food-like substances, lay off all the processed meats, dairy, and eggs, and completely stay away from all processed fats and oils……
In other words, a Whole Foods, Plant-Based, No Oil Diet.
The animals will thank you, and so will your family as you regain your natural good health.
