Summary:
I really liked the deep burgundy color of the Leighton Denny nail polish in shade ‘Vamp’, but had never tried the brand before. I’m very pleased I have now though.
Firstly, this isn’t a cheap nail polish. It’s £11 for a bottle, so I was a little put off when I found that the nail polish was slightly runny and gave very uneven coverage after one coat. The brush isn’t anything unusual or spectacular. It all seemed rather unimpressive on first impression. Even the bottle is just a regular oblong with silver writing, and looks kinda boring…
After the second coat, though, I was impressed! The cover was smooth and even, and very bold. The deep burgundy caught the light and seemed to almost glow from within, revealing deep red and purple shades. The Leighton Denny polish dried quickly and left my nails looking shiny and feeling spectacularly smooth.
After a couple of days I noticed some very slight chips on my right (dominant) hand so decided to apply a third coat which amazingly gave an even smoother, bolder and darker finish. Again, chips started appearing after a couple more days, but again were small and could have been mended with a quick touch-up.
I imagine the polish would have benefited from the use of a base and top coat, but even without I was super impressed. There wasn’t any nail discolouring either which is rare with dark shades, and it came off easily and quickly with nail polish remover.
I’m just amazed at how days after application my nail polish looked rich and shiny, and felt incredibly smooth. Despite the high cost of the polish, the Leighton Denny polishes are roughly the same price as Nails Inc but the results are so much better! I’m really looking forward to trying other shades now!
