Konjac Sponges

By Makeuptemple @makeuptemple

The Konjac plant is from the potato family and grows native in Asia. For centuries, its flour has been used to make noodles, as a thickening agent in foods, and in dietary supplements for its high fiber and vitamin content. To make the sponge, The Konjac Sponge Company use the pure food grade flour and mix it with pure volcanic filtered water, pour the mixture into moulds, ferment the flour, then steam and bake the sponges. Similar to the baking of a cake, they add different clays or bamboo charcoal (for different skin types and conditions) just as you would raisins or cocoa powder – it’s like a fairy cake for the face…
To use the sponge simply immerse in water (they hold ten times their weight in liquid) and wipe over the face to remove dirt and makeup without the need for any additional cleansers. You can use with your normal cleanser but you only need to use a fraction of the usual amount. The Konjac sponge is so soft and gentle; it is ideally suited for soothing and cleansing the delicate eye area. Nothing else can cleanse and exfoliate the eye socket and just under the eye in the same way. The Konjac Sponge has a soft edge that can exfoliate and brighten this area; removing dead skin cells, old make up and reducing puffiness by massaging away excess fluid.
The sponges are biodegradable and will naturally begin to show wear and tear after 1-3 months so the drier they are kept between uses the better. You can then compost or even dig them straight into the garden or the bottom of a plant pot.
