Kapok: MIRABEL

Dutch jazz trio Kapok have changed their modus operandi for their new album MIRABEL, relying on improvisation in stead of "proper" song structures. This approach resulted in Impressionistic soundscapes with gnarly electronics, pastoral excursions and adventurous avant-garde. They have always been doing things differently, trying to find new ways to connect as musicians and with their audience.

By bringing in new instruments - vibraphone and baritone guitar - they were able to add new new colours to their palette, making this album their most "far out" to date. MIRABEL is an hour long stream of consciousness trip and cut-up techniques. They have let themselves go, adding a whole new meaning to the concept of "free jazz". Where to go after this? Count on them to find another way to make it interesting and out-of-the-box.

Kapok:
Morris Kliphuis: horn, cornet, synthesizers, effects
Timon Koomen: guitar, baritone guitar, effects
Remco Menting: drums, vibraphone, effects
