Jherek Bischoff and Amanda Palmer: Purple Rain

Posted on the 01 June 2016 by Hctf @hctf

Jherek Bischoff and Amanda Palmer have done it again. After releasing the tasteful Strung Out In Heaven: A Bowie String Quartet Tribute in February, their latest cover tribute is a touching version of Purple Rain. Inserting just a bit of Let's Go Crazy to get the ball rolling, the Prince classic is treated respectfully, with a seriously sad Palmer singing softly. The strings were recorded in LA. She laid down the vocals in a huge converted church in Hudson, NY, a place with superb acoustics.

Jherek Bischoff: string arranging, mixing, mastering
Amanda Palmer: vocals
Serena McKinney: violin
Ben Ullery: viola
Alma Fernandez: viola
Jacob Braun: cello

Purple Rain is a self-released single. Buy it from her website. This entire project was financed by the supporters at patreon.com/amandapalmer. The minimum price here is $1 (for Prince's publisher for the use of the song). All proceeds of this download (until further notice) will go to the Elevate Hope Foundation, a non-profit organisation that provides therapy through music for abused and abandoned kids...supported by Prince and founded by Sheila E.
