Jane Cosmetics' pH Adjusting Stain Gloss - Worth a Try?

By Makeupguineapig @MakeUpGuineaPig

Jane Cosmetics has recently re-launched it’s line, and among their new products is a pH Adjusting Stain Gloss. I’m usually very skeptical of the PH adjusting products in terms of the working with your skin tone kind of claims, but they can be pretty regardless of whether or not they adapt to your skin. Seeing that Jane’s new Stains came in four different shades, I was rather intrigued. I’ve never noticed another PH adjusting lip product that came in various shades. My curiosity was sufficiently peaked, and a PH Adjusting Stain Gloss in “Berry” came home with me!

The pH Adjusting Stain Gloss is packaged much like a lip gloss or a liquid lipstick. It comes in a black tube with a colorful ring of real women around the middle. These truly inspirational women are the “Friends of Jane,” who are giving back to their communities and making an impact on the world. You can read more about their stories and causes on Jane’s website. When you open the cylindrical tube, you’ll find a doe-foot applicator. It seems a little smaller than most, which is actually great because it gives you a little bit more control over where the product is going. It’s also perfect for younger girls or those who just have smaller features.

The formula itself gives a nice sheer flush to the lips. It looks very natural and the “Berry” shade does have a berry-tinted tone. The stain begins a very pale purplish-berry color and applies clear. Wait a minute or two for the formula to adjust to your body’s temperature, and your lips will have the perfect berry flush to them! It looks beautiful and it stays all day! This flushing stain really does stain!

Unlike most stains, Jane’s version actually does have a glossy finish to it! It’s enough to look healthy without being too in-your-face-shiny. The shine actually lasts for quite some time too! Lips feel hydrated and very comfortable all day as well. It is a little thick, but there’s no stickiness or tackiness. I guess I would call the formula gel-like, but not in a goopy kind of way. It’s kind of a water-based gel feeling. This stain really feels as comfortable as a lip balm! It has a slightly artificial fruity candy scent and subtle taste too.

The new Jane Cosmetics pH Adjusting Stain Gloss is definitely the perfect natural your-lips-but-better look! With a healthy shine, it is never over done, and it is perfect for younger girls who are just getting started with makeup, as well as those just looking to amp up their natural lip color. I love that there are 4 shades available and am curious to try some of the others to see how the color changes.

The pH Adjusting Stain Gloss retails for $7 and can be found at select Ulta retail locations, Ulta.com and on Jane’s website. To find an Ulta carrying Jane products in your area, check out Jane’s store finder.
