" data-orig-size="265,400" sizes="(max-width: 199px) 100vw, 199px" aperture="aperture" />Marc Elsberg’s debut novel was a complete dud. Not only did I feel the story was less thrilling and more snoozing, but it did not weather the translation from German very well. Sentence structure was awkward, and the word choices were too simple to add anything to the story. I skimmed through the entire story in hopes it would get better. It did not. I did find it ironic though that just as I was finishing up reading it, there was the largest hacker attack to date that took out UK’s hospital system among others. I suppose that means I should have found the novel eerily prescient; instead, I found it boring and less exciting than real life.
Kate Moore’s expose on the Radium Girls was fantastic. What those women went through just to obtain justice is a crime, and their influence on current manufacturing practices and safety was astonishing. I highly recommend this one.
Joelle Charbonneau’s latest series starts out fairly well. I found it a bit too predictable, which always bothers me in novels. However, I managed to gobble it up in a day, so it didn’t bother me too much.
