It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? – 2 January 2017

By Whatsheread
Hosted by Kathryn from Book Date, this is a weekly event to share what we’ve read in the past week and what we hope to read, plus whatever else comes to mind. To learn more about each book, just click on the book cover!
Happy New Year, everyone! I hope everyone enjoyed and has recovered from the festivities. These are the books I finished since Christmas and yet another reminder that my reading selections are weird eclectic.

FINISHED SINCE THE LAST UPDATE:

Mindy Mejia’s latest novel is a rather disquieting story about the acts we put on for others and the consequences of those acts on our inner psyche. With her tale of forbidden love and lost innocence, it is the type of novel that will be excellent book club fodder for those of you looking for 2017 book club selections.

Molly Harper is and will always be a balm for my soul. Her novels are light and humorous and the perfect way for me to relax and remember not to take life too seriously. What a great way to end 2016!

The new Nick Cutter was also a fabulous way to end the year. It has been a long time since a book has frightened me enough to keep awake at night, but Mr. Cutter managed to do just that for me with his tale of a doomed colony and the devils that inhabit it.

Chris Bohjalian’s latest novel is equally impressive. 2017 is definitely starting out with some stellar new releases!
