FINISHED SINCE THE LAST UPDATE:

Nora’s latest series ended just about the way I expected. It was a great diversionary read but by no means her best effort.

Ms. Gay’s latest selection of short stories is a gut-wrencher. They are all worth reading but none of them are emotionally easy reads.

Switching gears with Megan Miranda’s debut was not easy but necessary after the gut punch that was Ms. Gay’s novel. Ms. Miranda’s was sufficiently entertaining but left me wanting. The gimmick of its storytelling had me confused, and I am not convinced it made for a better story.

Megan Abbott’s latest however was exactly what I hoped it would be. Exciting, intense and capturing that close-knit, brutally ambitious community that is competitive anything, I devoured it in a day.
