It’s in the Bag!

By Fitnessontoast @fitnessontoast

Not just the preserve of the beauty blogger, fitness bloggers too have their own bags full of favorite little treasures! I try to stay as healthy as I can for as much of the time as possible, notwithstanding the occasional treat required to maintain my sanity :) This post details some of the current healthy-favourites you’ll find inside my sports bag right now, including a bunch of hero products from Yes To, Apple and Beats…

The Bag itself? A classic fitness fashion piece from one of my favorite apparel companies, Monreal London. The Malika Champ Bag is a super-spacious gym tote with a gorgeous print, and beautifully luxurious design flourishes. It feels a bit more special than going to the gym with your change of clothes crumpled in a supermarket carrier bag!

1) Yes To Coconut Protecting Hand and Cuticle cream.
The advent of frosty winter weather inevitably means dry, cracked hands; I find this cream is great for an instant hit of restorative, moisturising hydration. I’ve long used coconut oil for almost everything, as per a post from last year Go Coco-Nuts – I cook with it, and have always believed it to be a fabulous natural moisturiser. This hand cream contains virgin coconut oil, water, shell and milk; i.e. the whole coconut! Whilst it’s non greasy, It’s also 97% natural (free from parabens, SLS and phthalates) which I love, and contains vitamins A, C & E (Ace!). But most of all, that smell repeatedly tricks me into thinking that it’s almost edible! You can pick one up at Boots HERE.

2) Monreal Sporty Biker Jacket.
An ultra-versatile piece from Monreal London which works both to & from the gym, as well as during a workout. It’s a classic black biker jacket which goes with everything, and I love the high-quality silver detailing, and subtle quilting detail!

3) Skipping Rope
Light as feather, and you can carry it in your handbag and whip it out anywhere and anytime for a totally portable and mega-challenging workout! 20 minutes of intense skipping can burn 4-500 calories, not to mention the thermogenic after-effects that keep you burning calories all day! Always worth keeping with you for travels!

4) Powerbeats2 Wireless Earphones
Super easy to use, they hook onto your ears and can’t be shaken off during even a vigorous sprint, and because there are no dangling cords, you won’t accidentally yank them out with your flailing arms whilst running! The wireless earphones allow you to play music with Bluetooth up to 30 foot range, and there’s a 6 hour rechargeable battery which is plenty of power to help push through any sweaty workout. Oh, and they’re water resistant luckily!.

5) Apple Watch – Sport Edition
I’m trialling the Watch at present, and am seriously impressed with it so far. The activity tracker thinks for me, which is great as it feels like someone’s permanently got my back, in fitness terms! Data is rich; it tracks the number of steps taken, distance covered, number of times I’ve stood up throughout the day (avoids endless sitting at the desk), my heart rate through time, my real-time calorie-burn and much more. Weekly Activity and Workout summaries that can be accessed anytime, and progress reports that I can share with friends to keep me motivated further! Also, it’s become my credit card too thanks to Apple Pay. The whole idea is great, and I’ve been keeping it with me 100% of the time of late; it seems to be having an additive effect on my focus and motivation, which is all you could really ask for. A thorough review will follow in the near future!

6) Nuts & Seeds.
Crucial for any health-aware bag (unless of course you’ve an intolerance!). Full of essential (good) fats that work wonders for the skin, hair, training results and general systemic well being. They can help to lower your LDL (bad) cholesterol and decrease the risk of heart disease. Plus they’re plenty fibrous, and can help to keep you content when hunger threatens to strike!

7) Water.
Our bodies are made up of 60% water – it’s essential to almost every bodily function we humans are capable of. It helps to improve overall well-being as well as quality of life in so many ways and will inevitably help to improve your ability to smash your training goals. I like to drink as close as possible to a liter every 4 hours, so I always keep a 500ml bottle with me, just in case!

8) Yes To Carrots Daily Facial Moisturiser SPF 15
Working out and showering every day, I need a proper moisturiser which can neutralise the taxing effects on my skin which stem from of all that sweating. This Yes To Daily Facial Moisturiser contains SPF15 which every dermatologist I’ve ever met agrees is must – I try to apply it 20 mins prior to any sun exposure and keep reapplying through the day! There’s also Shea Butter, Almond Oil and Aloe, 3 ingredients I’ve always associated with rich nourishment for my skin. It also Contains beta-carotene, a natural antioxidant that nourishes the skin, whilst being 95% natural (free from parabens, SLS and phthalates). You can pick up a 50ml bottle from Boots HERE. In the picture below, you’ve caught him in a moment of rest, having a little lie-down on the pillow!

9) Home Made Natural Energy Balls
These balls are dense nutritious power balls, which satisfy any chocolate craving sweet tooth whilst being completely organic (no nasty, chemicals here!). Full recipe coming soon to the blog!

10) Powerbank Titan Stellar
Because you never know when you’ll need some juice on the go!!

Hope that’s a helpful little insight into what keeps me moving during the days! Faya x
