Ipsy Glam Bag Unwrapped! - September Edition

By Makeupguineapig @MakeUpGuineaPig
Like BirchBox, this month's Ipsy Glam Bag seemed like it arrived even later than normal. Therefore, it's taken me until October to post the contents of September's bag! It seems like each month, there are more options that Ipsy is drawing from, which is kind of exciting! This month could include something from Butter London and/or Cailyn (both of which I'm a fan)! So did my bag contain anything amazing? Keep reading to find out!

First out of the bag are three different sheet masks from Freeman Beauty. I didn't know Freeman made sheet masks, and I've never tried one before (though I do have some that I always forget about) so I'm excited! :) There is a Blue Agave Hydrating mask, a Rose Brightening mask and a Star Fruit Purifying mask. Very exciting! Ok, not that exciting, but something new to try that I'm not unhappy about. I'll take it! :)

Next is another product from J Cat Beauty. (Or is it J Cass? I can't tell from the logo.) They sent one or two products from this company before - I remember quite vividly the super glittery cream eye shadows that I should probably just throw away. Anyway, this time they have sent a Fantabulous Lipstick which may be amazing, but it's in a shade that I would never in a million year choose. The color is called "Honeycrisp" and it literally looks like a flesh tone to me. In fact, I might have assumed it was a concealer if it didn't say lipstick on it. By the same token, I may find it's my new favorite shade, but I doubt it! I can see if I like the formula at least.

Another familiar brand appears in my little hands. It is from Starlooks which I also remember receiving something in their line recently. I don't mind the brand repeats too much, but I feel like I've received these quite recently and they also weren't the greatest of products. Anyway, this is the Kohl Eye Pencil in "Obsidian," which is just a standard black. It looks like a $0.99 eyeliner from the drugstore, so I can't say that I'm all that excited. It's also not incredibly black as I would expect from a kohl pencil, nor is it incredibly creamy and it wipes right off even after given time to set up. Waaaah!!!

The next hot little number is called It's So Big Volumizing Mascara by Elizabeth Moss. Never heard of the brand, which can be fun. I must say that as much as I love mascaras, I'm getting a bit tired of receiving samples of them in Ipsy bags. I feel like there's one every month lately. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but there was definitely one last month. This bag is not going well! :(

Finally...please let it be something amazing!...there's an Eye Shadow from NYX. Ok. So another overly done brand. At least NYX makes some decent products, but this eye shadow is in the shade "Cryptonite." It's a sparkly slate grayish-black. Not a color I ever use. Not only that, when it's swatched it's incredibly sheer and just leaves behind a bunch of sparkles with what looks like a smudge of dirt. Hmm. Very disappointing NYX! Some of their shadows are great, but not this one! :)

Well, this bag was horrible. Every other bag I've seen contained a Tinted Lip Balm from Cailyn, and I love those! Other than the face masks, which I'm guessing run a dollar or two a piece, there's not one item that I am even remotely interested in in this bag! And, if I'm completely honest, the face masks are only mildly interesting. I forgot to include the paper card with samples from Michelle Phan's new "em" line. These kinds of samples are probably more useless than foil packets to me! Not to mention, I really have no interest in the line. Well done Ipsy. You've greatly disappointed me. Perhaps worst of all, BirchBox beat you this month!!! ::sigh:: Here's to hoping next month is much better!!! :)
