Girl I Don’t Want Your Man

What is up with women and their insecurities toward other women? This past Saturday, I attended a stage play production of the movie Love Jones. First, I am not a huge fan of the movie so I don’t know what prompted me to go see the stage play. Anyway, when I got to my seat along with my friend, I did what any normal woman with class would do. I politely spoke and then sat down in my seat. The people next to me were obviously a couple. After I spoke, she grabbed her man like I was ready to snatch him up. The funny thing is, I didn’t realize she was a woman until she went a step further and made him switch seats with her. I looked at her and in my best Tamar Braxton impression I thought “girl get yo life” I don’t want your man. That’s when it hit me that this has happened to me way too many times. I seem to run into insecure women quite often.

I don’t have the answers to why some women are so insecure when it comes to their significant others. Maybe it’s because the world is full of single women looking for love. And that automatically makes us thirsty (desperate). Maybe some woman snatched up their man years ago and now they have this insecurity that makes them cling for dear life. Gotta love that saran wrap love (clingy)! Maybe they have low self esteem that makes them feel insecure about themselves. Whatever the case may be, get your shit together. You cannot keep your significant other from the world unless you plan on locking them in the closet and letting them out for air every blue moon.

There will always be somebody more attractive, someone with a better figure, someone with more money, more charm, more whatever, who cares. The key is being confident in who you are and what you have. Confidence is the number one quality that attracts us to most people. Women like confident men, men like confident women, and everybody else in between looks for confidence among other things. If you’re an insecure woman, you have to work on this because it spills over into your romantic life.

I do understand we live in a world where women seem to have no boundaries. They push up on anything they see regardless of their relationship status. But as someone once told me, “you can’t keep anything that doesn’t want to be kept”. Regardless of whatever method women may use to try to keep their man at bay. Nothing will work if he’s open to other options, so all the work women put into grabbing their man, keeping him on leash, and switching seats so he won’t sit next to me is done in vain. Because I don’t want your man!

If a woman is going to be insecure about her man, she should make sure he’s worth being insecure over.
