In Rotation: Laura Mvula + 'Sing to the Moon'

By Rockitnapptural @Rockitnapptural
Laura Mvula, the 27 year-old singer, songwriter and musician hailing from Birmingham with a classically trained background in composition, is a force to be reckoned with. With heavy gospel influences, the serene and coaxing voice of Laura Mvula is one to be desired and will leave you pondering over just how to classify her and her unique sound. It was her track Green Garden (which was released March 2013) that caught the world by storm and gave us no choice but to recognize and listen...

Laura Mvula was working as a receptionist when she was discovered & later signed with RCA records, releasing her debut extended play song, She in November 2012. Laura credits her influences as Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and Lauryn Hill, which is evident in her acoustic sound. In March she released her debut album, Sing to the Moon, which contains hints of jazz, soul, classical and neo-soul persuasions.
