IIFYM The Right Way

By Heathernichole
As you know, I'm shedding for the wedding and training for life. {Meaning, after my wedding I'm not going to go back to old habits. I'm going to continue working out and eating right and possibly train for a power lifting competition.} I didn't want a quick fix or a trendy diet. I wanted an eating plan that I could continue with even after our wedding. I've done iifym in the past. I figured out my own daily macros needs and I went off of what I read online and learned from fellow iifym-ers. This time around I wanted to ensure that my numbers were correct and that I was doing everything correctly. I went to the famous, Paige, for assistance. She helped me so much and I have no doubt that I will see results real soon.
I learned that before now I was tracking my food intake incorrectly. If a food item said 50 grams, I would just log a servings and I would measure out 50 grams. If I went over a little or under a little I would let it go but it all adds up. So let's say the serving is 50 grams and you end up consuming 59 grams. You would divide 59 by 50 and you would log 1.18 in the serving size. When she explained this to me and I actually understood, I was very excited! Now it's like a game to me.
I also didn't realize that I should be logging all gum, sugar free syrups, packs of Splenda and vitamins.
Here are a couple things that I've been eating. I use Orgain Organic Protein now that I'm not consuming dairy. I wish I could just have whey protein because #1 it has more protein and #2 it has less or zero carbs. This stuff is pretty good for a plant based protein though. I've been blending a serving of Orgain with almond milk, frozen berries and raw egg whites {to add a little extra protein}. It's pretty scrumptious and it's a very good blend of protein and carbs.

I'm contemplating buying a second food scale to keep at work. I've been carrying mine around in my purse but it would be bad news bears if anything happened to it.

I am OBSESSED with the Cookie and Cocoa Swirl Butter from Trader Joe's. It's awfully hard measuring it out because I just want to eat the whole jar but it prevents me from feeling guilty after I eat it.
 So incredibly good!

I went out and bought some chocolate Vitamuffins. I used to love these things but I thought they had dairy in them. An insta-friend reminded me that they are dairy free so I ran to Target as soon as possible. And I threw some Cookie and Cocoa Swirl Butter on it. Oh, and this was another day. I'm not eating multiple servings of Cookie Butter each day but even if I were, as long as it fits within my macros is what matters!

Dinner last night was perfect. Rotisserie chicken from Costco, garlic Naan, hummus and bruschetta. Very filling and delicious.

I weighed myself yesterday morning and I was a lot less than I was expecting. My fiancé and I have been eating out so much, I was expecting to have gained at least ten pounds. I actually lost about three since the last time I weighed myself. Hopefully that number continues to go down...but I'm trying not to worry about the number on the scale. I'm more concerned about slimming down and getting stronger.
