I Wonder What I’ll Be Thinking This Time Tomorrow

By Mythreesearches

“Did you have a particular place in mind?” – too much pressure.

“Is there an area that’s most convenient for you?” – desperate.

“What neighborhood will you be in tomorrow?” – stalkerish.

I sat on the bus contemplating the entire trip home how I should respond to Marc’s email.  We spoke briefly a few weeks back but he was leaving for a two week vacation the next morning, so we agreed to meet in person when he got back.  To my (pleasant) surprise, I got an email exactly two weeks later.

Subject: Still remember me?

Body: When can I have the chance to take you out?

Romantic and charming.  This seemed promising.

I responded and told Marc that, of course, I remembered him and would love to go out.  We agreed on Tuesday (real time: tomorrow).

At 4:00 PM today, the day had flown by and I still had not heard from Marc.  I decided to take a chance and email him.

Subject: Tomorrow

Body: Hi Marc, I hope you enjoyed your weekend and are doing well.  Let me know if you’re still up for tomorrow night!

I was relieved and excited when I got an email at 5:45.

Subject: Tomorrow, of course

Body: Still looking forward to tomorrow! Dinner, drinks?

I was thrilled.

Subject: RE: Tomorrow, of course

Body: Drinks sound good to me! Do you have a preference for a particular neighborhood?

It was perfect.  Relaxed and cool.  Not to mention, it gave him the perfect opening to either suggest a place or ask for a recommendation.

It’s exciting that this time tomorrow I may have just had a wonderful date.  I also recognize, I could be in the same place I am now.  And, that too, would be more than ok.
