“I’m Feeling Better Than I Have in Years”

By Dietdoctor @DietDoctor1

Jim was overweight, diabetic and suffered from sleep deprivation, sometimes having to work 24-hour shifts and eating sugar just to stay awake.

However, this changed after a workplace injury, and his doctor advised him to try a keto diet to help him with his diabetes and hypertension. Here's what happened:

Jim's story

Hi my name is Jim, I'm almost 60 years old and I'm a professional firefighter in Florida. I had bad eating habits and suffered from sleep deprivation, sometimes staying up to do 24-hour shifts and eating things with sugar to stay awake.

That all ended when I was injured on the job. With that being said, I was 297 lbs (135 kg) with hypertension and also diabetic. My cardiologist suggested keto so I looked into Diet Doctor and found everything I needed to know about keto, meal plans, and cooking. The first thing I did was to throw out all the junk food and get rid of all bread etc.

In January 2019, I took the 2-week challenge with my wife and we lost 10 lbs (5 kg) each so we decided to learn more about fasting and started out with 16:8 and we did great. Now we are on OMAD.

I went back to my cardiologist and all my blood work is in normal range, I was taken off Metformin because I was no longer a diabetic, no more Lipitor or Norvasc, no more hypertension and my weight loss so far is 83 lbs (38 kg) as of march 2020 and I'm still going strong and feeling better than I have in years.
