“ew this outfit makes me look fat” “maybe they’d be friends with me if i was skinnier” “my life would be better if i wasn’t so chubby” “I’m too skinny people think i hurt myself” “I can’t go outside people will think I’m ugly”
Too many times we’ve heard it said, in-fact I can guarantee that each of us have experienced similar thoughts to these before. At least, I know I have. Body image has never been something easy for me just like most girls and boys. Growing up in a society plastered with advertisements for the “perfect body” isn’t the best environment. These pictures get to our heads and are quick to lower a persons self esteem. Throughout my time in high school and even to this day Iv never been happy with the way I look. No matter how I diet or what I wear or even how much makeup I have on my face I’m never truly satisfied. Sure somedays are better than others but a lot of the time I don’t like what I see.
Numerous girls and boys in the world feel the same way. They strive to achieve the perfect look and could possibly hurt themselves in the process. The story is all to familiar. A young girl is ridiculed for the way she looks…starves herself nearly to death and ends up in a hospital terminally ill. Sometimes topics such as anorexia and bulimia are even promoted on television! The media is destroying the minds of youth and adults alike and its a sad sight.
This is why Im here. Though Im not completely fine with my figure and looks, Iv been learning to accept myself. Which is one of the reasons I started this blog in the first place- to learn to accept myself for who I am. My I LOVE MY BODY Campaign is the first step I want to take in helping girls and boys be proud of themselves and stand tall. It isn’t much but its a start.
Rules:
- Repost the I<3my body campaign photo and tell a story about a time you felt insecure about the way you look, the way you dress or even the way you speak.
- Add a link to the blog who had tagged you
- answer the questions below
Answer the following questions:
- Whats your favorite feature about yourself?
- Why do you like this trait of yours?
- If you could tell your future daughter one thing, what would it be?
Now say it 5 times to yourself “I love myself” “I love myself” “I love myself” “I love myself” “I love myself”
Now, Tag 5-10 people with this post and advise them to do the same (let them know you tagged them). By singling out one feature even just one that you like about yourself- you have just created a glimpse of happiness in your heart that makes you a tiny bit more confident. Even if you don’t see it it shines through you in ways you could never imagine. Everyone is beautiful and everyone deserves to shine.
I tag all of my followers!! Every one of you! Please help me get this campaign started and build confidence in girls around the world, including you!
