The governing body for European football has announced that the English referee will officiate Tuesday's mouth-wathering clash in Munich
The English referee, 40, is one of the top officials in activity, having officiated the finals of both the Champions League and the World Cup in 2010.
He has overseen 42 matches in 2011-12, including four in the Champions League, but none of them involving either Madrid or Bayern.
Uefa has not yet announced the name of the referee for the other semi final, between Chelsea and Barcelona, at Stamford Bridge, on Wednesday.
The second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu is scheduled for April 25.
