How to Stay Positive During Isolation

By Alyssa Martinez @ItsMariaAlyssa

Staying positive in these trying times might seem like an impossible task. Isolation is not something that comes easy to us, as one of our prime needs as humans is to socialize with others. But if you put your mind to it, you can come up with many interesting things to do while in isolation. Here are some suggestions you might want to try out, that will help you stay positive during this pandemic.

Find Some Time to Exercise

Use the time that you have to spend inside to get yourself back in shape. It's easy to just let yourself go right now and that's precisely why you shouldn't do it. Go online and find some great at-home exercise routines. There are a lot of good videos showing exercises you can do even if you have no training equipment. Having weights or a home bench press can only add to the quality of your workouts and you have no good excuses for not using them.

Movies and Shows

Do you know all those shows that your friends have mentioned to you? The ones that you haven't had the time to get to? Well, now is your chance! There are many great shows and movies out there, especially comedies, that are sure to put a smile on your face. If that's not enough for you, check out some funny videos on Youtube. When was your last chance to just browse the internet for some quality content and have some laughs?

Connect With People Safely

Whether you are going through isolation alone or with someone, there is no reason for you not to talk to other people. You can use your phone or one of the great apps out there, like Skype or Discord. Turn on your camera and have a fun time with your friends, they will make you forget about the isolation for sure. You could even make a big online party in the evening with some quality beers or wine.

Play Some Games

Games are always a good source of fun and there is no shortage of them. Why not go back to a favorite video game now that you have the time to do so? Try to remember what you loved about it, is it still as great as it used to be? Maybe you will discover a new game to call your favorite. Going online and finding some other people to talk and play games with might be just what you needed for this isolation period. If you are a board gamer and are used to playing games with people in person, there is also a solution for you. Try software like Tabletop Simulator or Tabletopia to find a group to play your favorite board game online with.

Fix and Clean Your House

There must be a lot of things leaking or broken around your house that you have been meaning to fix. Now it is your chance. Fixing the leaky faucet or the creaky step will make your home better, and a better home will bring you a sense of achievement and inner peace. Maybe nothing is broken but you just need to tidy up the place or move your clothes from one closet to another. Try cleaning your house up a bit in general. The time has come to move the sofa that you never move and clean under there as well. A clean home will fill you with a positive attitude.

Spend Time on Hobbies

Never had the time to pursue your hobbies? Get to that model airplane that you wanted to assemble for ages. Take the canvas out from your garage and start painting. Find the inspiration to write a short novel. Pursuing a hobby is what makes a person the happiest, and you have just been given all the time that you need to do so.
