How to Get Rid of Toenail Fungus Fast Naturally at Home

Manicure and pedicure are important parts of our beauty regime. We all love to have well manicured and beautiful nails. Nail infection is something that can spoil the health and beauty of the nails. Nail infection is a fungal infection and it can affect one or two of the nails. It appears as a white or yellow spot under the tip of the nail and then goes deeper causing discolouration of the nail. So, it is important to treat nail infection as early as possible. Onychomycosis is the most common nail infection.

Home Remedies for Nail Fungus:

Alcohol:

Fill a 4 ounce dropper with 70% isopropyl alcohol and apply 2 drops of the alcohol on the infected area every morning and evening. After a few months of application, the infection will get healed.

Apple cider vinegar:

Apple cider vinegar has mild acidic properties, which is great for preventing the spread of nail fungus. Take equal amounts of apple cider vinegar and water, and dip your infected nail in this solution for about half an hour. After soaking your nails, dry the nails and foot completely. With regular use, this can help in getting rid of the infection. This is very effective for treating fungal infection.

Baking soda:

Take 4 cups of water and add ½ cup of baking soda, ¼ cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide and ½ cup of Epsom salt to it. Mix well and then add ¼ cup of vinegar. Soak your infected nail in this mixture for about 10 minutes and then wash with clean water. Do this twice a day.

Chamomile:

Apply the chamomile used tea bag as poultice on the infected area two or three times a day. This is sure to get you positive results.

Coconut oil:

Coconut oil is well known for its healing capacity. It has antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal properties. Apply coconut oil on the infected area and massage gently. With daily application, this can help you get rid of the infection.

Lemon juice:

Lemon juice is known for its antifungal and antiseptic properties. The citric acid present in lemon juice can help prevent the spread of the fungal infection. Take the fresh juice of lemon and apply it on the infected area. Wait for half an hour and then rinse off with warm water. Dry properly. You can apply it as many times a day as your wish. Within a couple of weeks you will start getting positive results.

Lavender oil:

Lavender oil is good for treating fungal infection because of its antiseptic properties. It can also provide you relief from the irritator caused due to infection. Take 5 drops each of lavender oil and tea tree oil and mix them well. Apply it on the infected nail and the surrounding area with the help of a cotton swab. Leave it for 10 minutes and then rinse off with water. Applying it 2 to 3 time a day is good for healing it.

Neem oil:

Neem oil has great antifungal properties. So, it is very effective of the treatment of nail fungus. It also helps in keeping your nails well-nourished and moisturized, thus making your nails look healthy and beautiful. Massage your infected nails and the surrounding area with this oil daily and soon you will get positive results.

Olive leaf extract:

Olive leaf extract has the ability to kill fungus, virus, bacteria and so on.  It is wonderful for the treatment of nail fungus.

Oregano oil:

The analgesic, antiviral, antifungal, antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-parasitic properties of oregano oil make it very effective for getting rid of nail infection. Mix one teaspoon of olive oil with a few drops of this oil and apply it on the infected area. Wait for half an hour and then rinse off. Dry your nails well after rinsing. Apply this twice a day for three weeks for getting best results.

Rice flour and apple cider vinegar:

Make an antifungal, exfoliating scrub by mixing apple cider vinegar and roughly grounded rice flour. Apply this paste on your nail and scrub gently. Do this two to three times a week till the infect ion goes away.

Sea salt:

Take a bowl of water and add sea salt to it. Soak your feet in this solution for 10 minutes daily and soon you will start getting positive results. If you are living near the sea, you can dip your feet every day in sea water.

Tea tree oil:

The antifungal and antiseptic properties of tea tree oil make it very effective for treating nail fungus. Add a few drops of tea tree oil to coconut or olive oil and dip a cotton ball in this mixture. Apply it on the infected nail. Leave it for about 10 minutes and then take a toothbrush and scrub your nail gently with it. Doing this 2 to 3 times a day is very effective.

Turmeric powder:

Apply turmeric paste on the infected area and wait till the paste gets dry. Now you can wash it off with water and then dry your nail properly. This treatment is great for getting rid of nail infection.

Vitamin E oil:

This is also good for the treatment of nail infection. Massage the infected area with this oil every day and soon your nail will get healed.

White vinegar:

White vinegar can fight infection and maintain the pH balance of the skin. Mix two parts of warm water with one part of white vinegar and soak your nails in it for about 15 minutes. Now rinse off with clean water. Dry your foot and nail well. Treating your nails this way twice daily can help you get of the infection.

Yogurt:

Yogurt is a rich source of probiotics. So it has antifungal properties, which makes it very effective for the treatment of nail fungus. All you have to do is to include it in your daily diet.
