How To Find Tinder Success

By Alyssa Martinez @ItsMariaAlyssa

Tinder is one of the dominant ways of finding someone to partner up with nowadays, so how do you ensure success?

1. The Initial Connection Is Superficial

Nobody can deny that the way in which Tinder operates is more than just a little superficial. Based on the pictures you see, you ultimately choose who you want to talk to. However, this is also the fun part of the app, and probably one of the elements that draws so much attention. If you want to be successful in the dating game via Tinder, you need to embrace the way things are done. And on Tinder, it starts off superficial.

2. Be Honest With Yourself And Your Expectations

Everyone has their own reasons for using Tinder. They either hope to find a serious relationship, a good time, or simply a casual hookup. Whatever your reasons might be, just keep it honest. For the most part, Tinder is an entertaining form of getting to know people, and those looking for something serious are typically labeled as monogamy freaks. But that's okay because you are the one sliding between the pics.

But at the same time, you have to respect why others are using it. Make peace with the fact that at least half of the pictures you see have no intention of proposing marriage or having a fling - if that's your focus then make sure you're clean with Safer STD Testing.

3. Don't Waste Time

The whole point of Tinder is to save time playing the dating game. But how much time are you going to save if you entertain people who can only manage dialogue you find offensive or disgusting? Do yourself a favor when the conversation starts to go south and simply unmatch the person. Because would you rather spend your time throwing sarcastic comments around (which can be done on many social media platforms) or do you want to find a cool hookup?

4. Test The Tinder Water

Of course, you have your own way of starting a conversation, just like you want to do things at your own pace. But with a platform like Tinder, there is no such thing as a slow pace. You either get into the game or you get out. But even with lightning speed dating, there is a trick you can use to make your "position" clear. In a very subtle way, bring up a core value or something you really feel passionate about. This can set the tone of the conversation while giving you a better idea of whether you are compatible.

5. Have A Sense Of Humor

Essentially, you are playing a game. It's a very fun game, but it's a game nonetheless. So, if you do decide to use Tinder, it's best to do it with a good sense of humor. In fact, you want to avoid matches that don't like jokes or laughing, seeing as it will take all the fun out of the game.

6. Take The Necessary Time

Isn't the point of Tinder to meet someone in five seconds, have a quick conversation, then meet each other for a date in twenty minutes? Maybe for some people, but if you want to go on dates that won't make you feel like you've wasted hours of your life, take a little extra time talking.

Why? Because you'll get a better understanding of the person as the conversation progresses, which gives you a much better idea of how the date will end. Don't get caught up in their pretty eyes and assume it's going to be a great date.

7. Don't Read Too Much Into Charming Texts

The problem with Tinder is that texting isn't the same as sitting in front of a person. And while they might have a great way with words in terms of texting, it doesn't mean they will be as entertaining in real life. So, the lesson here is not to invest all your interest based on the charming texts you receive. That same person can be very dull in real life.

8. Implement A Little Safety

There is an element of danger that comes with Tinder, and you'd be a fool not to admit it. But there are ways you can make it a little safer. After chatting with somebody long enough, and you have some personal information, do a little research online. More specifically, see if they have a Facebook account you can stalk for a few minutes. This can help you to decide whether the person is actually who they say they are.

9. Don't Spend Too Long Texting

There is a very fine balance with Tinder and it involves the time it takes to meet someone. How long do you text that person before making arrangements to meet? If you only chat for 10 minutes, it's not nearly enough time. If you text the person for days, you are getting too comfortable in the texting world, which only makes you more nervous when you finally meet.

The general rule of thumb is to chat for at least 30 to 60 minutes before deciding whether you feel comfortable meeting. If you need to take a little longer than do so. But this is speed dating at its virtual best, so you have to roll with it if you want to keep up.

10. Forget Tradition

You are living in 2018 and you are searching for date scrolling through profile pics, there is nothing traditional about it. So, if you are a woman, why wait for the guy to ask you out? The same goes for the guys who have always been too self-conscious to ask a girl out. If she rejects you now, you simply scroll to the next profile pic.
