If you are a high achiever, you are always thirsty for accomplishment. More than likely, you want to achieve big things and make a difference in the world. Well, what if your job doesn’t give you the opportunity to achieve and grow?
After all, achievement is your life line. Without it, you suffocate.
I was experiencing the same problem until I created a list of possible achievements for myself. Achievement is nothing more that a positive outcome. And when you spread achievement to other areas of your life, you tend to be more balanced and satisfied. Here is my list…
- Relationships: reaching out more to my friends; telling my parents how I love and appreciate them more; making new friends and focusing on what we have in common versus what’s different about us
- Maintaining and building a relationship with God: Without Him I’m nothing.
- Loving and affirming myself each day
- Building a success identity
- Hearing someone say, “You really helped me today”, no matter what it was that I helped them with.
- Small successes in handling my finances
- Encouraging excellence and self-love among my family and friends
