How to Deal With Balding in 4 Easy Steps

By Alyssa Martinez @ItsMariaAlyssa

No one wants to lose their hair, but the fact is, an incredibly high percentage of people do. In fact, over 80% of men and almost 50% of women lose a significant amount of their hair during their lifetime. And for men, hair loss can begin before age 30.

And though losing hair is an inevitable part of life for many people, you don't have to take hair loss lying down. If you know how to deal with balding, you can ensure that you maintain your confidence (and even your hair!) well into your later years.

Read on to learn everything you need to know about hair loss solutions.

1. Try Hair Loss Products

The first step in combating hair loss for many is hair loss products. Now, with these products, you have two options. You can purchase over-the-counter remedies, such as rogaine, or get a prescription for a stronger medication from your doctor.

Keep in mind that these products must be used continuously, as they will cause regrowth of hair and prevent any further loss, but the effects will be reversed as soon as you stop using them.

2. Consider a Hair Transplant

This is by far the most invasive option, as it's actual surgery, so be sure to consider your options carefully before making your decision. In this procedure, a cosmetic surgeon will remove a section of hair from one area of your hair (typically the back) and transplant it in the thinning area.

If a hair transplant sounds too extreme, consider purchasing a permanent hair system. These are made from real hair, ultralight mesh, and lace that will make it indistinguishable from your natural hairline.

3. Try a New Hairstyle

Perhaps the easiest way to deal with thinning hair is to try out a new hairstyle. Take advantage of the areas of your hair that are thick.

For example, if your hair is thinning at the corners of your forehead, you could get an undercut. That way, it will appear that you have no hair in that area on purpose. Or, for those with thinning hair at the crown, you could keep your hair longer at the top, combing it back toward and covering the thin area.

You might not have thick hair all over your head anymore, but you can give the illusion that you do!

4. Grow Some Facial Hair

For many men, growing facial hair is a far better option and confidence booster than attempting a comb-over or trying to regrow hair. Though the hair on the top of your head might thin out as you age, your facial hair will thicken.

This gives you the option to grow a great beard or goatee, even if you couldn't when you were in your teens and twenties.
