How Sher Got Rid of Her Baby Weight and Joint Pain

By Dietdoctor @DietDoctor1

Sher had gained weight during her two pregnancies but was unable to lose the weight. When she started experiencing severe joint pain when walking the stairs, she knew she had to lose weight. She started googling to find a way and found the Diet Doctor website and the keto diet. This is what happened:

Hi! My name is Sher S. I live in Illinois and I'm 37 years old.

I am a mom of two. I had back-to-back pregnancies (13 months apart) so the weight I put on with my first never came off. After my second was born (over three years ago!) I never lost the weight.

My knees were starting to hurt walking down stairs

I started keto on June 10, 2018. A few weeks before I started I noticed I was winded walking up the stairs (it was happening every time). I also noticed my knees were starting to hurt walking DOWN stairs as well, this was something new. This is what really made me realize I needed to change something. As my knee pain got worse from walking down stairs, I had to hold onto railings to take some weight off my knees or go down one.stair.at.a.time! This lasted for a week or two. During this time I was googling "how to lose weight" "quick weight loss"... anything you could think of.

Somehow, I stumbled upon the Diet Doctor website, success stories and pictures had me coming back for a few days. My initial thought was that I love carbs too much, how could I ever give up carbs/sweets/sugary treats? Each day, I would see some more pictures, read some more stories (stories from other carb-loving/sugar-loving people) and get a little more inspired/courageous thinking "I can do this!" So, finally, I signed up for the two-week challenge. I followed the meal plans/picked recipes I thought I'd like, and made sure to drink a cup of broth a day. Thankfully, I didn't experience any keto flu symptoms and I credit that to the Diet Doctor website. So to get through the two-week challenge I found a few recipes I liked and just kept making them over and over ( crack slaw - any kind - was a favorite). I'm a creature of habit so I don't get sick of the repetitiveness.

By the end of the two weeks, I couldn't believe I was not craving or wanting to snack on bread and chocolates and sweets. My knee/joint pain was gone after a few days (definitely by the end of the first week). I don't know how much weight I lost during that time but at two weeks I know this was something I wanted to stick with!

In the first two months, I lost close to 20 pounds (9 kilos). That was with diet alone. By December 2018 (six months later) I was down another 20 pounds, 40 total (18 kilos). It's now February 2019 and I'm down almost 60 pounds (27 kilos) from where I started. I am so glad I stumbled upon the diet doctor website one day when I needed it most.

I'm so glad I am a much healthier and happier person.

I'm so glad I took a chance on myself. I'm so glad I am a much healthier and happier person. I feel better. I look better. Things fit better. I've had to buy a lot of new clothes but that is my reward for a job well done! This, as many others would say, is not a diet but a lifestyle change. There are so many delicious and wonderful recipes that you do not need to feel deprived or like you're missing out. Once you get the hang of it it's smooth sailing. Take a chance, you'll be glad you did! My journey isn't over. As I said before, this isn't a diet for me - it's now my lifestyle. Loving it!
