As a summer-born person, I understand the joy of the season. However, with the hot weather, it can be challenging to choose what to wear, especially if you have to work in a place without air conditioning. In this blog, I will share my tips and tricks for choosing my summer wardrobe.
First and foremost, I prioritize the quality of the fabric and opt for light-colored clothes. In hot weather, it is important to choose fabrics that are comfortable to wear and allow air to circulate around the body. As someone who sweats a lot, cotton is my go-to fabric. It is a good absorber of water, which means it can absorb sweat from the body and expose it to the atmosphere, resulting in faster evaporation.
I also prefer light-colored clothes during summer as they are better at absorbing heat. Colors such as white, yellow, and beige reflect most of the sun's rays into the atmosphere, keeping me cool. In contrast, darker fabrics trap heat, making me feel hotter. Apart from cotton, I also like linen and khadi fabrics for my summer dresses.
Wearing loose clothes is also important during summer. Tight clothing restricts circulation, which is not ideal in hot weather. Our blood vessels tend to dilate in summer, allowing our body to cool itself by letting heat escape through our skin. Loose and airy clothing allows blood to circulate freely, helping to regulate body temperature.
During summer, it is best to avoid wearing shorts, dresses, and sleeveless clothes during the day. These types of clothes expose the skin to the sun's rays, leading to problems such as UV damage and heat rash. Although sunscreen is essential, many people forget to apply it, leaving their skin vulnerable and exposed. Moreover, heat dries out the skin, making it more prone to aging and wrinkles. Hence, I prefer wearing full sleeve salwar kameez during summer.
Apart from clothing, I always carry sunglasses, sunscreen, an umbrella, and two bottles of water. These items are crucial to staying healthy and fashionable during the summer season. And as a personal preference, I like to keep my jewelry light and thin.
Lastly, I avoid synthetic fabrics as much as possible because they do not breathe like natural fabrics such as cotton. Synthetic fabrics trap sweat, making it difficult for it to dry as it should.
In conclusion, choosing summer clothes is not just about looking good but also feeling comfortable. Opt for high-quality fabrics such as cotton, linen, and khadi in light shades to stay cool. Loose clothing and full-sleeve salwar kameez are also excellent options. Do not forget to accessorize with light-thin jewelry and always carry essential items like sunscreen, sunglasses, an umbrella, and water.
