How Do You Want to Feel in 2016?

By Andrewtix

Christine Carter is one of my favorite authors and bloggers. I have benefited greatly from her advice about parenting and happiness. In this post intended to prompt reflection about the upcoming new year, Carter suggests that, rather than focusing on what we want to achieve next year, we would do well to ask ourselves an alternative question:

What do I want to feel?

Of course, there may be many ways we want to feel. If you’re reading this blog, perhaps you would be interested in experiencing more mystery and awe.

If experiencing more mystery and awe was a New Year’s resolution, how would it change you? Would you engage in different activities intended to spark more mystery and awe, or would you reflect on the experiences you already are having in different ways? For instance, would you spend more time in nature? Would you read different materials or read what you already are reading differently? Would you spend more money on experiences rather than things? Would you travel different places, spend time with different people, or alter your approach to religion and spirituality?

Please feel free to comment below with any ideas this sparks in you as you think about the upcoming year. In the truest sense of the word, we wish you an awesome 2016!
