'Himalaya Refreshing and Clarifying Toner' - An Alcohol-Free Mild Toner For Dry To Normal Skin | Review

By Ritujain
It's really hot here in Brisbane, Australia and I hate how oily my t-zone gets in hot and humid weather. So I was in search of an alcohol free toner which could help me to get rid of the excess oil without ripping off the much needed moisture from my skin and found 'Himalaya Refreshing and Clarifying Toner' in the beauty aisle of  a local Indian grocery store here and picked it up immediately when I noticed that it was alcohol-free. I have used it for about 3 weeks and here are my thoughts about it.

Himalaya Refreshing and Clarifying Toner- Ingredients, Claims, Directions to use

'Himalaya Refreshing and Clarifying Toner' comes in a semi-transparent aqua-blue colored plastic bottle which has a green colored flip-cap which closes properly. The packaging is simple and travel friendly because I did not experienced any product leakage while traveling to Melbourne with this in my bag.
Himalaya Toner is a watery, transparent and mildly fragrant toner. The fragrance is sort of herbal and fades away soon. I really like the fragrance because it does refresh up my mind. It gives a slightly cooling sensation to the skin and effectively removes dirt and other impurities present on the surface of the skin without causing any burning or stinging. It feels really mild and gentle on the skin and does not cause any redness which sometimes toners do. It picks up some dirt from my face even after I have cleansed it with my 'Biore Combination Skin Cleanser'. It does not dry out the skin and feels moisturizing also.

There are a few things that are not so good about this toner... like it leaves my skin feeling awkwardly sticky and fails to keep it oil free for long. The stickiness is so annoying and does not go away even after 4-5 hours. It feels like I have applied a thin layer of glue on my face..believe me..I hate to touch my face after I have used this toner. It also has something soapy in it because it seems to form lather when you rub it between your fingers. I did shake the bottle to check and it did form crazy lather. To be honest, it feels like a diluted shampoo to me. I think the soapy ingredient is actually what makes it sticky. It was unable to help me to get rid of the excess oil on my t-zone and did no good for my pores either.

Overall, I would say that it is an average toner which is alcohol-free and does pick up a significant amount of dirt from the face without being harsh and drying but the sticky feeling that it leaves makes it really annoying. It neither any good for my skin nor did it cause any trouble like break-outs etc. I think people with dry skin might like it but surely it's not meant for me.
Given below are some quick hits and misses about this toner.
Hits:
*Affordable and easily available
*Non irritant and mild on skin
*Removes dirt effectively
*Does not break me out
*Alcohol free
Misses:
*Makes the skin sticky like anything
*Fails to control oil secretion
*Contains something soapy
*Does not control excess oil
*Does not tighten pores

'Go for it' or 'No for it':It failed to do what I expected so it's a No. I won't repurchase or recommend it to people like me who have combination skin.
