This feeling is not so familiar to me these days, as a mummy, heels are a bit impractical but I remember it well. Sometimes, they used to hurt for days, it's even worse if your shoes are a bit big for you, that clenching of the toes is painful not to mention hard work! I thought I'd put together my top tips for helping to ease that pain as I am sure some of you are suffering right now!
Here are my top tips to help avoid it next time!
1. Make sure your heels fit properly. I used to buy the gel insoles to help shoes fit. You can also get long life heel pads if you find you get the pain there rather than the balls of your feet.
2. Wear heels more often. The more often you wear them, the more your feet will get used to them, but remember tip number 1! Also remember to give your feet a nice break every now and then with some flats.
3. Stretch the morning after. It seems silly but this will bring the blood flow to the muscles and get them working properly again! Time to dust off that yoga DVD.
4. Just like any other muscles, your toes and feet can benefit from a nice long soak in the bath! It can really help to soothe them, especially with some Epsom salts. I love having a bath when my muscle hurt, it just feels so nice!
5. Cut your toenails. If they are a bit too long, they can cause SO much pain pressing against the inside of your heels. Cut them right down but straight across and not too short, to avoid ingrowing toenails.
Let me know if you try any of these next time and if they helped! *PR collaboration.
