HEALTHY 2013 – The Year of Change!

By Reeseatomic @reeseatomic

So, here we are at the beginning of the new year. I hope everyone had an good time bringing in 2013.

What has changed since January 1st?

Well, LC and I moved into a new place in the Eastern Suburbs. I’m back to living in Paddington, a couple of blocks away from the well-known Five Ways and only a five minute walk to my job. (Everything’s coming up Milhouse!)

I didn’t make any resolutions this year. I find that I rarely stick with them, so over the last few years I’ve been writing 101 Things to do in 1001 Days which I find is a lot more achievble than resolutions.

One thing I’m going to do regularly throughout this year and do regular posts about is HEALTHY 2013.

I was a 59kg, with a BMI of 23.8 (which is technically still on the high end of normal) but at that weight I was happy with. I could wear anything I wanted, I had the energy to walk everywhere and not feel sluggish. I was motivated and really enjoyed my life.
Although 59kg does sound like a low weight, people have to realize that I’m very short – I’m 5’2 or 157cm – so when you calculate height with weight, the BMI is within healthy range.

I think I’ll aim for a goal weight of 53-55kg, so I’m in the mid-range normal BMI for someone my height.

I’ll update once a month and update on any weight loss – and hopefully not gain – plus, tips I’ve come across and changes to my lifestyle.
This won’t be just weight loss. It’ll be about all aspects of health: food, well-being, the mind, body and soul.

Of course, some of the things I mention won’t work for everyone and it will be at your own discretion if you choose to follow what I do.

So far, in 2013, I’ve lost 1.1kg. Although it does sound like an dismal effort, a loss is a loss and I’d rather lose small amounts at a time rather than gain weight.

I’m going to keep up with the exercise, clean eating and calorie counting.

Will you be participating in Healthy 2013? What are your goals this year? Any health tips for weight loss?
