Happy Skin x Love Marie Moisturizing Matte Lippie Duo Review

By Alyssa Martinez @ItsMariaAlyssa

I have been solely using liquid lipsticks for the past three years. Even though it is drying on the lips, I use it because I am lazy to reapply and I don't like to leave stains on the cups, spoons, and something else **wink** The last time I used a crayon-style lipstick was, I think, during a friend's wedding in 2015, so using these lippies from Happy Skin kinda feels refreshing! But was it good? Scroll down to read my Happy Skin Skin x Love Marie Moisturizing Matte Lippie Duo review!

But first, who is Love Marie?

If you've been reading my blog for a while now, then you might be familiar with Happy Skin. If you don't, it's a Filipino cosmetic brand famous with their Disney-themed lippies and collaborating with famous people in the Philippines, including Love Marie who is popularly known by her stage name Heart Evangelista (pictured above). She is an actress, and artist known for painting Hermes Bags. Just check her Instagram, you'll love her OOTDs and artworks.

WHAT IS IT?

The Happy Skin x Love Marie Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Matte Lippie Set is a limited edition collection that making its return. It was first launched in 2016, that aims to celebrate effortless beauty for every day. It comes in two shades, the "Skinny Dipping" which features a nude pink color perfect for daytime, while the "Heartthrob" comes in a beautiful rich red hue perfect for a night out.

These matte lippie keeps lips supple and moisturized with the power of Cupuaçu Butter. Originating from the Rain Forest, Cupuaçu Butter is prized for its rich content and ability to deliver true healing to dry, damaged skin. It offers the capacity to attract 240% more water allowing it to effectively hydrate and plump. Cupuaçu Butter is also known for its ability to absorb damaging UVA/UVB rays, thus offering natural sun protection.

PERFORMANCE

APPLICATION: Twist the body of the lippie to release the product. Line the borders of your lips to define your lip shape, then fill in the lips with color to create a creamy, rich pout.

SCENT: These moisturizing matte lippie sticks do not have detectable scents.

PACKAGING: These Happy Skin x Love Marie Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Matte Lippie Set comes in a slide up box (like a match), but you can also purchase these lippies individually and yes, they also comes in a chic box designed with a bunch of doodles! But I'm not sure if you will also get the doodle stickers that I got from the duo set.

FORMULA: These lippies are indeed matte and highly-pigmented, but they are a little bit creamy and truly moisturizing on the lips. It feels comfortable, something I haven't been able to feel from a lipstick in a while since I've been using liquid lipsticks. It feels like the skin on my lips can now breathe!

RESULT: As expected these lippie sticks are not transfer-proof or waterproof, but for a matte lipstick that isn't liquid, it has a decent staying power if you do not eat or smooch someone. Because trust me, I've used many lipsticks, and there are those that just annoyingly disappears even if you did nothing but just talking. It happened a lot to me in college where I have to re-apply my lipstick after each class.

But with these Happy Skin Lippies, despite not being not waterproof, it survives my Matcha Cream Latte. It slightly becomes lighter within 2 hours but it can stay up to a decent 4 hours. Best of all, it doesn't stain my lips! That's another reason why I switched to liquid lipsticks, back in college my friends always tell me "You have a lipstick stain on your lips". I don't know how it happens because these lippie sticks are not transfer-proof but for some reason, it never stained my teeth by using it solely for 3 days.

VERDICT

PROS: Matte finish yet moisturizing, highly-pigmented, and can stay around 2-4 hours on your lips depends on your activity.

CONS: Not transfer-proof
