Happy Birthday to My Little World of Make up - First Blog Anniversary

By Natasha Bhatt
Hi everyone,
Today's post is no review but a day to be remembered by me forever. By the title you may have guessed it right. It is my blog's first anniversary. Yes I am one year old finally!! dance * dance * On the 29th of January 2013 I posted my first review on this blog and it has been exactly a year since then :)

My main purpose of starting this blog was to do something which I can call my own. Over the years after working for 5 years I realized after a while boredom sets in and you feel there is nothing exciting in life.So there needs to be something which should motivate you and keep you going and for me it was talking about Make up.Due to personal reasons I took a long break from work and shall be back to business soon. I do not know how I will manage but all I know is I want to busy and I will manage is my gut feeling. So whether I blog or not?  how long ?  how much? &  until when I don't know. I do not plan anything.

My Journey in blogging so far:
The journey has been a long and I would say a pretty long one full of ups and downs. I was a regular  reader  of many websites and blogs beauty related and always had in mind that I can also write a review. While I wanted to write for other websites but  I did drop the idea later and somehow came with the thought that I should write for my own blog. So  I jumped on to it without any further thinking because I am a big procastinator,  I started my first review with no knowledge at all. I just wanted that people read it and comment. Nobody knew I existed but from the second post I saw comments pouring in and first one being from Megha Saraf. I was elated and instantly connected with her. I was very slow in terms of posting and would post one to two reviews a week in the initial stages. From March my dear friend Radha did start commenting on my posts. In the month of April I was terribly sick and started my medication which did beat the crap out of me. I had a very bad birthday and it affected my blogging also. However I was still posting here and there. It did not stop.
Slowly things started taking momentum and I was posting not every single day but 3 articles a week. People started connecting with me and I was hooked on to many blogs and this is where I am now. There is no denying that I love lipsticks and lip products and that is what reflected the most in my blog. Some call me lipstick queen.. hahaha not really. I like lipsticks and over the years accumulated more than necessary. Clicking lip swatches is no joke I tell you and I do not do anything exceptional to be honest. I never bothered about foundation, concealer, setting powder, primer etc until I started blogging. I usually do not apply much make up on the face and by make up I mean foundation, concealer etc. I am happy with a lipstick and some powder on the face and ocassionaly I apply kajal or eyeliner. Yes that simple can you beat that. But there are some changes post blogging and I am happy about it.
When I started out I knew nothing. I remember creating a facebook fan page after months. What my blog is today is a pure result of my hardwork, dedication  and my own expertise. I never knew anyone in the first few months as I was new & hesitant to ask anyone anything. Also over time I also felt that asking help is good but then I wanted to do everything on my own and explore things on my own. No I am not a proud or arrogant person but all my life I took help and support of others so I wanted to find my own way this time. Of course if there was something I did not understand I always turned to my good friend Radha, Niesha and Megha. And what I said also does not mean I will not take anyone's help in future. We all learn from one another, Don't we?
While today's new bloggers know everything so fast which is a good thing I did struggle to come in terms with many things.SEO, blog traffic, all the techinical stuff is something which I have come to terms with over time. I still have lots of things to do like buy my own domain, make the website look attractive etc. But I always feel there is a time for everything and a learning curve and it will eventually happen soon.I was and am always worried about my content - My first priority always.
Most of my reviews are from brands that are not so popular and may not be known by many but then I am an explorer and always look out for things which no one else has discovered and which will suit everyone's budget. From the people I know in my personal life apart from blogging  no one goes beyond Maybelline in terms of make up and I have received messages from many people who ask me where can I buy this product and recommendations from Mumbai. Ok I am not saying that others who review XYZ brands are doing anything wrong nor who are using them, its a personal choice after all. Everyone is unique in their own way and people definitely benefit from reading the information provided totally. I was just telling about myself.( nothing personal)On a personal level the last one year was very bad for me. Only my family, close and best friends knew about it and I am not here to discuss my personal issues. Blogging gave me a place to express myself through make up and connect with so many good people. I have never been part of a group or a set of people in the blogging world. I have commented, liked on many blogs but over a period of time but  I have stuck with those from whom I bond/ connect with the most. It may not be practically possible to comment everywhere but I do try my best. That's it simple isn't it?
The two people who have to be mentioned are my  best friends Tejinder Kaur and Radha Krishnakumar from Indian Beauty Zone. They are like diamonds for me whose shine shall never fade. They have been my firm supporters always!Tejinder Kaur: She needs no introduction. She is the most famous person in the blogging world. A very charming and loving person and full of zest for life. Everyone loves her.I never knew her personally or even blogging wise  until somewhere in August or September I started interacting with her after she was a regular reader & commenter on my blog posts. What can I say about her? She came as an angel in my life. She has time and again motivated me whether it  has been blogging or my personal life and knows me inside out, atleast that is what I feel right sweetie?;)   I am indebted to her for life for all the things she has done and continues to do  directly or indirectly. I am so glad I know you Tejinder you are my sunshine and best friend for life.I Love You forever with all my heart & I  always wish the best for you ♥♥ I wish we could have met personally often but that may not be possible as you stay miles away but hope to meet you someday. I chose this public forum to express my love and gratitude for you and I am so glad to have you in my life. You are very precious to me.. Virtual hugs and kisses sweetheart :* :*
Radha Krishnakumar from Indian Beauty Zone: We are soul sisters totally! We are the same in many ways. She is a very hard working person and I admire her the most. She has a golden heart and more than that she is a true friend hard to find now a days. She has helped many people in the blogging world as everyone may know but many a times people have written unpleasent things about her which is very sad. She is a mom, a housewife and runs 2 blogs. Really kudos to her. Its not an easy task I know. I am glad that she is my friend and my true well wisher. I really wish all the best things for her and her blog may reach new heights of success. Love you Rads ♥♥
I would like to thank Megha Saraf - the first person I knew through blogging and always holds a special place for me :) Niesha - one of the best bloggers we have and very helpful too. Esha - the motivator & shower gel queen, Aparajita Sengupta my good friend always and my friends Mini Vasudevan, Sylvester Vaz and Venissa Peters  who always support me in blogging. Of course not to forget my dear family ♥♥

I would also like to mention Richa Saxena, Charu Sharma, Shipra, Srinjla, Gowthami,Rachna, Poonam Jain , Vipra, Jhilmil, Arpita Tiwary, Shivi from Cosmochics and many more who are regular readers and commenters on my blog. I am sorry if I may have left out anyone. But I would sincerely like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for sticking around and I hope to continue blogging in future as well. Without your comments, likes, appreciation the blog would not have been the way it is now.
I have definitely learnt a lot through blogging and all the wonderful people associated with it and shall continue to learn because Life is all about learning. Today when I look back I learnt a lot of things and that makes me  a better person in life today. I have struggled for lots of things in life and have learnt many bitter lessons which is why I never forget to be humble & grounded but at the same time I am smart enough to know what is right and wrong. Success shall come some day by the grace of God and I shall wait for it with open arms. As I always say Keep calm and continue blogging!! So shall be it in future as well :DSee you all in my next post until then.. Buhhh byeeee ♥♥

Lots of Love,

P.S: All my views are my own and they are not meant to offend/criticize anyone. We are all equal here in the blogging world and will always be :) Images have been googled and not my own.
