By Kicks @Chrisboucher73
Comparing playoff numbers to those from the regular season
This post will compare each Montreal Canadiens player's takeaway-to-turnover ratio from the regular season, with their ratio through the team's first two playoff games. Only even-strength events are used in this post.
Within this system, a player is credited with a takeaway whenever they successfully remove puck-possession from the opposition by way of a stick-check, body-check, blocked pass, or blocked shot. Conversely, a player is credited with a turnover whenever they fail an attempt to maintain puck-possession by way of a pass, deke, dump-out, dump-in, missed shot, or blocked shot.
OVERALL T-TO-T RATIO
Through two games, the Habs have an improved overall takeaway-to-turnover ratio at even-strength. Players with a lower ratio in the playoffs include; Mike Weaver, Francis Bouillon, Alexei Emelin, Tomas Plekanec, Daniel Briere, and Thomas Vanek. Vanek is the only winger with a lower ratio in the playoffs than he produced in the regular season.

OFFENSIVE-ZONE T-TO-T RATIO
As a team, the Habs also have an improved offensive-zone takeaway-to-turnover ratio at even-strength. Players with a lower offensive-zone ratio in the playoffs include; Weaver, Bouillon, Emelin, Andrei Markov, and David Desharnais. None of the Habs wingers have produced a lower offensive-zone ratio in the playoffs than they contributed in the regular season.

DEFENSIVE-ZONE T-TO-T RATIO
The Habs have an improved defensive-zone takeaway-to-turnover ratio in the playoffs. Players with a lower ratio in the playoffs include; Gorges, Bouillon, Emelin, Plekanec, Gionta, and Weise. Gionta and Weise are the only wingers with a lower ratio in the playoffs than they produced in the regular season.

NEUTRAL-ZONE T-TO-T RATIO
The Habs have a substantially improved neutral-zone takeaway-to-turnover ratio in the playoffs, and have done nothing less than own the neutral-zone through the first two games of the series. Players with a lower ratio in the playoffs include; Gorges, Bouillon, Emelin, Plekanec, Briere, Vanek, and Gionta. Vanek and Gionta are the only wingers with a lower ratio in the playoffs than they produced in the regular season.
