Guest Post: 5 Aussie Beauty Secrets

By Elisabeth @onecutedoc

Attention Beauty Lovers. Today, Mia Taylor will be taking over the blog and sharing some beauty secrets from down under. I am so excited to have her guest posting and I hope you love her post as much as I do! Take it away Mia!

When you live in Australia, there’s hardly anything to worry about… well, at least when it comes to keeping your beauty in check. Europe and US chicks can do nothing else but envy the glowing, bronze complexion of Aussie beauties, their thick hair and the laid-back boho style; luckily for girls and women all around, Aussie lovelies aren’t selfish and are always happy to share their insights and advice for all the other girls to steal and enjoy.

Here, a breakdown of top five Aussie beauty secrets that will change your life! Keep in mind, though, they aren’t anything groundbreaking – rather, they’re a simple set of healthy habits and natural products. Still interested? Read on.

Sun-Kissed Glow

Blessed with the intense sun rays all throughout the year, Aussie beauties enjoy their sun-tanned glow as much as they can. However, to keep their skin elastic, glowing and nurtured, and make sure their pigmentation doesn’t go from bronze to reddish, they need to use high-quality products and stay diligent with their beauty regimens. Their choices fall onto natural cosmetics with a high SPF factor to protect them from the sun as well as the ingredients that are easy on the skin yet just as effective as those chemically processed would be. Girls, start browsing!

Lip Protection

These gorgeous living-by-the-sea girls enjoy their salty water, sunbathing and all benefits that come with it, no doubt. Still, they are always extra careful about keeping their lips moisturized and chip free. For this, they’ll use natural lip balms with coconut, raspberry, avocado, mango and other wonderfully smelling ingredients. They’re not only super protective, but they smell (and taste) wonderful!

The Hair Care

The longer, the harder to maintain – and we all know this! Aussies fight dry strains (from the salt) and split ends with natural coconut masks; coconut oil is multi-practical and perfect not for the hair only, but even for teeth whitening and cooking!

When using it on your hair, wet the ends and apply coconut oil (just a little, as it’s very greasy); keep the hair wrapped for about two hours prior to washing. You can even spend the night with your hair wrapped in coconut oil – it’ll be more difficult to wash it in the morning, but the effect and scent will be longer. Awesome, right?

The Power of Hiking

Hiking is one of those workouts of exercise-in-a-non-exercising-way type. It’s simple, gear free and liberating.

Going on a hike is more about becoming one with nature and letting go of all of your daily stress by simply… walking, following your own rhythm and enjoying the sights around. This is perfect for all the gals out there who have kids – a family day in nature that joins the family bonding time and healthy (physical) activates is typical of every Aussie household. Take their lead and make this practice your own.

Water, Water, Water

Yes, you’ve heard it everywhere and you’ve read it in every single magazine and blog you’ve touched, BUT – there is a reason why you have.

Our body is 70% water and we need it to survive; it helps our digestion and constipation, relieves fatigue, it flushes out toxins from the body and skin and it even aids in weight loss. Water is further known to improve the mood, so no wonder Aussie ladies are always wearing a smile on their happy faces!

Water promotes healthy skin, too and regulates body temperature beating bad breath at the same time. Bingo! No, not a dingo – bingo! You’ve got no dingoes around, doll.

Do you love the tips? ‘Cos we do! There’s something so powerful about knowing we can all look super gorgeous by turning to nature and using it for taming some of our most difficult beauty dilemmas, don’t you think? Ah, Aussies, Aussies, you gorgeous little devils…
