The US architect Audrey O’Hagan was behind the new design for Gübelin boutiques. “With our new boutique concept, we want to more consciously address our customers and offer them a unique shopping experience in a relaxed atmosphere,” says Raphael Gübelin, President of the eponymous family-owned business on the topic of the design concept that is being implemented in all their boutiques. “And to be truly successful,” Gübelin continues, “we need a team of first-class employees who share their passion and expertise. This is why we do not just concentrate on external traits or values, but also convey to our customers the entire history behind our creations, and in doing so, allow them to recognize the deeper sense of luxury.”

As a tribute to the Canton of Ticino, Gübelin created a croisé ring for the opening ceremonies in the canton’s colours, incorporating a blue and a red gemstone. Thus, the Swiss jeweller stresses its long-standing relationship with the city of Lugano. Where they have been active since opening their first boutique there in 1967. The white gold ring was created in their own jewellery atelier and is set with a sapphire, a ruby and with diamonds. Proceeds from the sale of the ring will be donated to the ProMuseo association. ProMuseo is a private initiative founded by art lovers. This has been supporting the Museo d’arte della Svizzera italiana (MASI) in Lugano for nearly 20 years. Gübelin, in doing so, emphasises its dedication to culture. ProMuseo plays a major role in promoting the work of the museum, allowing new acquisitions and exhibitions, and making art accessible to a broad audience. This is one thing that brings the association and Gübelin together. Sharing knowledge of jewellery, precious gems and watches is one of the key concerns of the family-own business and is expressed in its “Deeply Inspired” philosophy.
