GlossyBox March 2013

By Newwithhashtags @NewWithHashtags

I have to say, my March 2013 Glossybox has left me very disappointed. This is only my third box, but I honestly don’t think I’ll be using many, if any, of the products I got in this one. Here’s hoping for a better April 2013 Glossybox!

I received:

Nails Inc – St James nail polish 4ml (£11 for 10ml)
Elizabeth Arden – Eight Hours Cream Skin Protectant Fragrance Free 7ml (£25 for 50ml)
Juicy Couture – Couture La La 1.5ml (£63 for 100ml)
Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics – Lip Blush 2.5g (£12 for 2.5g)
TRESemmé – TRESemmé Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray 100ml (£4.69 for 500ml)
My Little Travelling Book (free).

Total value: £21.78

On the surface this may seem like a good box with some good brands, especially as it’s worth twice the value of what I paid for it, but here are the catches:

- I don’t like Nails Inc nail polishes. I find that they are too thick, don’t dry nicely and they end up peeling off within hours. Either I’m doing something wrong or they’re seriously overrated. Regardless, I don’t wear red nail polish.
- The Elizabeth Arden Eight Hours Cream I got as a free sample by asking the make up counter for one. Before Christmas…
- I don’t like Juicy Couture perfumes, but again, I could get this as a free sample if I asked – I got tons of Juicy Couture perfume samples for free before.
- The Jelly Pong Pong lip blush is a bit too dark/fluorescent for me. I haven’t opened it, and maybe it’s not so bad on, but I’ve recently bought a Revlon Just Bitten Kissable lip stain and I don’t feel I need another similar product right now.
- I don’t wear hairspray. Ever. And I don’t plan on starting any time soon.
- Out of the 5 brands, I’ve tried 4, and that’s a big issue for me because I signed up to Glossybox to try out new brands.

So as you can imagine, I’m not massively enthusiastic about this months box, but what I can say, on a more positive note, is that I really like the ‘City Chic’ theme and the ‘My little travelling book’. It really has inspired me to go travelling, explore some amazing cities, and learn about new cultures. Plus the stickers inside were fun, and of course the box itself was well displayed, as ever. And I guess, to be fair, there are some decent products and brands in here, but I just don’t have the need or desire for any of them. As such, the star rating reflects my like of the theme and not for the products…
