GIS Team Lead
Lead a team managing geospatial data for pipeline operations
Vancouver, BC
As you lead and develop a team of skilled GIS Technicians, you will oversee and provide support and training for Spatial Data Management (SDM) products and services that manage operational risk. Applying best practices, you’ll coordinate SDM Capital and O&M projects (ensuring they’re on time, on budget and incident free) and align the SDM functions with company initiatives as well as safety, environmental and other regulations.
As GIS Team Lead, you will be specifically be responsible for:
- leading and developing a team of GIS Technicians
- providing governance, stewardship, user support, training and compliance monitoring for the area of spatial data
- managing and coordinating SDM Capital and O&M projects to ensure optimization, timeliness and cost efficiency, and that MOC documentation is complete
- implementing best practices as appropriate
- ensuring your area of responsibility meets environmental as well as safety (including employee, contractor, vehicle and process safety) requirements and regulations.
At minimum, you have:
- a degree or diploma in GIS technology or a similar field (e.g. geography, surveying or civil) or equivalent work experience
- 6 years’ experience with GIS-related software applications and methods
- 2 years’ leadership experience
- experience conducting investigations, collaborating, problem solving and technical/documentation writing
- a valid driver’s licence
Along with exceptional verbal and written communication, effective facilitation, superb customer service and strong analysis and organization skills, you ideally have the following experience:
- a background using GIS in an Oil and Gas industry setting
- 5 years coordinating, analyzing, interpreting and managing spatial data in conjunction with a GIS.
- 3 years working with multi-discipline data sets and requirements
- 3 years providing user support and training
- business analysis
- project management
This position is based in Vancouver.
