URISA, in partnership with its Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia Chapters, is pleased to invite you to GIS-Pro 2016: URISA’s 54th Annual Conference. The conference will take place October 31-November 3 at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto, Ontario.

Michael Hughes will be the opening keynote speaker on November 1. He will discuss “The Power of Personal Contact: How to Turn 3 Minute Conversations into Powerful, Productive and Profitable Relationships”, where we’ll learn how to maximize every GIS-Pro conference contact – great advice to kick off the conference!

Breakout sessions are scheduled on November 1-3. Presentations will be delivered by more than 100 speakers. Each session is detailed: https://gispro2016.sched.org/ Attendance and participation at GIS-Pro 2016, earns points toward GIS Professional Certification/Renewal and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) for professional planner credit.

There are luncheon presentations and posters, a Vendor Spark session and Lightning talks. Networking events from a Young Professionals’ Meetup to the Conference Social Event at the Hockey Hall of Fame will provide ample opportunities to expand your professional connections. The annual URISA awards breakfast will honor GIS Hall of Fame inductees, Exemplary Systems in Government winners and volunteer superstars.  Companies in the exhibit hall will demonstrate their solutions and Esri’s Hands-On Learning Lab will provide self-directed training tutorials.

The conference will wrap up on Thursday morning with Leslie Woo, Chief Planning Officer of Metrolinx, who will speak to the key issues that will shape the cities of the future and the leadership needed to creatively guide that future. Her closing comments will be followed by URISA’s Annual Business Meeting and the first Annual General Meeting of GeoAlliance Canada.

Calling all Students! URISA’s Vanguard Cabinet is inviting participation in the GIS-Pro 2016 Student Competition and has opportunities to attend the conference for free as a student volunteer. Details are online and the deadline is September 30.
