DEVILS (13-13-7) at PENGUINS (21-8-5)
7 p.m. ET; TVA Sports, ROOT, MSG+ 2, NHL.TV

Devils team scope
Cory Schneider could start in goal for the New Jersey Devils for the second straight game Friday. He made 16 saves in a 4-0 shutout of the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday to help end the Devils' seven-game losing streak (0-6-1). The win also was Schneider's first in six starts; he had been 0-4-1 in his previous five. "You could tell the emotions, the passion and commitment were there," Schneider said Thursday. "I think we're just tired of losing, just tired of not winning. That could manifest itself in a lot of ways and [Thursday], it was a positive." Coach John Hynes also could opt to use Keith Kinkaid, who made a season-high 46 saves in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Nov. 26. He last started Dec. 17, when he made 28 saves in a 3-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators. Forward Jacob Josefson was placed on injured reserve Thursday, retroactive to Dec. 17, when he sustained a concussion. He'll miss his fourth straight game Friday. They did not have a morning skate.

Penguins team scope
Pittsburgh goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury is expected to start Friday after Matt Murray allowed an NHL career-high six goals on 23 shots in a 7-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday. Fleury made four saves on five shots after replacing Murray in the third period. He made a season-high 41 saves in his last start, a 2-1 overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Dec. 17. Thursday was the second time this season the Penguins have allowed seven goals in a game; they lost 7-1 loss to the Washington Capitals on Nov. 16. The loss Thursday came two days after seven players scored in a 7-2 win against the New York Rangers. "We've got to compete harder away from the puck," coach Mike Sullivan said Thursday. "We've got to compete harder on the puck. We just have to be more competitive. … We've got a good team and we know it. When we play the game the right way we can play with anybody." Penguins captain Sidney Crosby said Thursday the best thing to do is to have a short memory. "We've got to move on," he said. "We've got to move on here to [Friday] and keep that game [Thursday] in the back of our mind and make sure we don't let it happen again." The Penguins did not have a morning skate Friday.

Lets Go Pens! Gotta bounce back after last night!
Yes they do. Devils play the Pens tough every game. I don't think the Pens can afford to sleep walk early, they have to be alert and jump on NJ. Playing ahead versus New Jersey presents a very different situation than having to play catch up. Thank God Marty Brodeur no longer is in goal for them, lol.
