Alex Galchenyuk's numbers during games where the Habs have out-chanced the opposition at even-strength demonstrate his importance to the Habs success. This post will focus on where Galchenyuk's contribution increases during those games where the Habs produce more even-strength scoring-chances than their opposition.

In games where the Habs produced more even-strength scoring-chances than their opposition, Alex Galchenyuk's scoring-chance numbers increased substantially. Galchenyuk's own scoring-chance numbers increased more than any other Canadiens player during games where the Habs out-chanced the opposition.

Both Galchenyuk's ratio and rating were substantially higher during games where the Habs out-chanced the opposition at even-strength. He also engaged in more events during games where the Habs out-chanced their opponents. Galchenyuk's performance in the offensive-zone was substantially better in games where the Habs out-chanced the opposition. He produced 2.06 successful plays in the offensive-zone for every one failed play during games where the Habs had more chances than their opponents. In contrast, he contributed only 1.50 successful plays for every 1 failed play when the Habs were out-chanced.
His rating was 0.77 when the Habs out-chanced the opposition, and dropped to 0.35 when they allowed more scoring-chances than they produced. His overall involvement was also substantially higher when the Habs had success, as he engaged in 2.23 o-zone events per-minute in those games; compared to 1.76 otherwise.
Equally of note is Galchenyuk's takeaway-to-turnover ratio of 1.778 when the Habs had scoring-chance success, as opposed to 1.508 otherwise.

Galchenyuk attempted substantially fewer cycle-passes during game where the Habs out-chanced the opposition at even-strength. He attempted to beat opposing players 1on1 (deke) more often (both along the wall and in open-ice) during those games, as well. He was also more prone to shoot during those games, and attempted substantially more passes off of the rush when the Habs were able to out-chance the opposition at even-strength.
