Friends Visiting ~ Weekend in Review

By Laura @BEBookworm

This past weekend some friends of ours were in town from Calgary for a visit. It was SO good to see them (the first time in over 2 years) and to meet their baby. I miss them already!

Saturday a bunch of us met up at Grasslands for brunch. I got the Pina Colada French Toast, and was the last one to get my food since everyone else was ordering savory food I guess. It was delicious though.

After stuffing our faces with brunch, we headed to Kensington Market to stuff our faces with vegan soft serve at Bunner’s. In honor of Halloween it was dark chocolate swirled with pumpkin pie flavor. Surprisingly good!

Chad, myself and our out of town friends went to check out the Zombie Walk, but I didn’t get any great pictures and we weren’t there long as we had somewhere to be. That somewhere was our friend’s sister and brother-in-law’s new escape room venture, Lockquest Inc.! We met some other friends there and we were the first group to try out “Escape the Book Club Killer”. It was so much fun! Of course, we’re sworn to secrecy, so no pics and no hints, but seriously, if you’re in Toronto, it’s a must-do.

After our escape, on the subway back downtown I finally got to see some of the IVegan posters up. I have already heard from one co-worker that she’s stopped eating pork after seeing the one with pigs on it. Now she just needs to read the ones about cows and chickens too.

Rounding off our lovely weekend, we met our Calgary friends at The Charlotte Room to play pool. I hadn’t played in YEARS, but they had nicknamed me Shark by the end of the night. We also devoured two plates of these fantastic vegan nachos while we were there. Yum!
