French Gourmet Chocolatier Jean-Paul Hévin – Welcomes the Year of the Horse

French gourmet chocolatier Jean-Paul Hévin is celebrating Chinese New Year with a special edition of premium chocolate treats welcoming the Year of the Horse.  Horse motifs and lucky gold ingots are the central themes of the 2014 collection, available from January 1st 2014 at his Parisian-style “Chocolate Bar” in Lyndhurst Terrace, Central and chocolate boutique in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Headlining the Chinese New Year creations are a new chocolate bonbon “Au Galop Cheval Noir” with a cartoon symbolising the Year of the Horse – dark chocolate ganache with jasmine tea (HK$22), and glittering ‘Lingot d’or’ – dark chocolate almond and hazelnut praline in golden foil (HK$35).

A champagne gold gift box “Boîte Cheval d’Or” of 12 dark and milk chocolate bonbons and 4 ‘Lingot d’or’ commemorates the lucky year priced HK$428.

An alternative Year of the Horse gift box “Boîte de Fortune” featuring a more extensive showcase of Jean-Paul Hévin’s chocolate works of art is priced HK$588. As well as two gold ingots on a bed of chocolate pearls, it also includes chocolate palets, caramels and nougats, fig & apricot mendiants, and dark and milk chocolate almonds.

This year’s Chinese New Year collection is completed with the chocolatier’s auspicious “Poisson Jet”, symbolising a speedy swim towards good fortune, with thin dark chocolate ‘pièces d’or’ inside, priced HK$488; and a special edition “JPH d’Or” gold box of 16 bonbons (HK$388).

A new seasonal macaron, with white sesame and dark chocolate ganache (HK$25); and sachets of chocolate – a mix of dark chocolate with coffee thin round palets and ‘pièces d’or’ (HK$98) are also perfect treats for the New Year.

A Year of the Horse tea set is also on the menu, served from 2-8 p.m. daily at HK$188, including eight of themed Chinese New Year delights – from bonbons and macarons to palets, chocolate almonds, ‘Lingot d’or’, ‘pièces d’or’, mendiant and caramels, with a pot of tea (Dammann or Mariage Frères).

Jean-Paul Hévin is also incorporating the seasonal theme into his famous hot chocolate over Chinese New Year, embellishing it with sesame cream and a floating ‘gold leaf’ for good luck, priced HK$60.
