India has shown a tremendous progress in IT and Technology and not to forget the recent Space venture with Mangalyaan putting our country on par with many growing nations in the World in terms of Science and Technology alike. While, on one side we ought to be really proud to be part of such growing nation; on the other we need a serious check on how far the whole country is in this growth!Honestly, in true sense; Growth of a Nation is not just merely calculated in terms of Technology and other mere superficial factors, it also includes the progress it made in the remotest places of the Country too. In our case, while Cities have improved vastly and are hitech right now(all thanks to the Technology advancement); villages on the other hand have shown mere improvement and infact need basic amenities and facilities like Public Toilets to keep their place neat, clean and in hygienic conditions.Hygiene is certainly a major concern especially in places like remote areas and villages where awareness is less and to top it, Medical assistance is hard to reach and/or assistance for emergency is comparatively less. While Open Defecation seems to be a major culprit for such un-hygienic conditions, awareness of same among the people is quite less. Even if they are aware (in few cases) unavailability of proper amenities force them to resort to open defecation.Whatever be the reason, unless this stops; the overall health and well-being of the kids and Women who often tend to see the backlash will never stop. And for this, Domex (http://www.domex.in/) has taken the initiative and started The Toilet Academy. More About Domex and the Toilet Academy –Domex, HUL’s flagship sanitation brand, currently runs the Domex Toilet Academy (DTA) programme. Domex Toilet Academywas launched on 19th November 2013. It aims to become a sustainable and long-term solution to provide sanitation that benefits the local community and helps stimulate the local economy. The Toilet Academymakes toilets accessible and affordable, while promoting the benefits of clean toilets & good hygiene. Their effort has resulted in bringing the change in the villages of Maharashtra and Orissa and they aim to build 24000 toilets by 2015 in rural areas faced with the problem of open defecation.
