France Haul :)

By Becca @glowgetterbecca

I’m home! After a 15-hour car ride, my family and I have made it home from France in one piece (miracles do happen)...

Haul Time!

I don’t think I quite realised the extent of my obsession with French supermarkets and their built-in pharmacies until last week. I’m pretty sure we didn’t pass one supermarket without entering and then leaving with some kind of treat (not all beauty related… I am a foodie as well after all). I can tell you, UK supermarkets do not get this kind of attention from me…

On the beauty/cosmetics front, I stocked up on my favorite Bioderma cleanser, which I can’t find anywhere in the UK. It’s called Sebium Gel Moussant and it has really helped to keep breakouts at bay. I find it gentle enough to double cleanse with, without drying out my skin at all. It was on offer when I went - yay! This double pack was a very reasonable 12.

La Roche Posay abounded in the stores, but I have so much of the famed Effaclar Duo that I didn’t feel the need to stock up ANY more! It is cheaper here though – about 10 (£9) to the £14 in Boots.  I decided instead to grab some heavy duty SPF50 suncream, because it was nice and hot over there. I got the Anthelios XL by La Roche Posay, which is for normal/combination skin. It came with a little thermal Spring Water Spray, which is a bit of a French classic.

I could not resist the tiny travel size Bioderma – it's so CUTE! I love me some Bioderma, so now, when I'm travelling, I can decant some into my mini bottle.

The last little beauty bits I got were a lip balm by Mixa, which smells soo good, and some Le Petit Marseillais shower gel, which comes in some lovely scents.

I also stocked up on LOTS of reading material, because my French is a little rusty! I thought I’d buy a few mags to get some practice in.
I got my fill of crepes, gaufres (waffles), steak-frites etc. while I was out in Brittany, but I did take a few food goodies home too!

I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t find Biologique Recherche’s P50 lotion ANYWHERE (and I looked in a LOT of places). I even asked in a pharmacy and they had never even heard of it. So I’m thinking maybe it’s a Paris thing. I mean, I was all for a “detour” to the capital on the way home, but I don’t think adding 10 hours to the already lengthy drive passes as a detour in anyone's book. I also couldn’t find Embryolisse anywhere, which I thought would be a sure thing! And I’m almost out of their Lait- Crème Concentré... At least I’ve always got Cult Beauty.
